I do that because I live with two other people (only one other when college is in session and our son's away) and it's the best way to keep the laundry cycle moving and the house running in organized fashion.

I'm a natural procrastinator and slob, however. If I were living here alone, left to my own devices and didn't have others who depended on our system, I'd let unfolded laundry pile up for weeks. I'd store most of my wearable clothes in the dryer and simply turn it on to iron them before I put them on. I'd throw dirty laundry directly into the washer tub instead of into a laundry basket and drape the still-clean-enough-to-rewear items on chairs or possibly on hangers (but not neatly). I'd never fold or hang another thing until the end of my time came. . . . Wouldn't it be loverly? I'd be in hawg heaven!
