hi all. first time poster long time reader. i just recently purchesed a line voltage thermostat to kill my fan @ night, because the temps are getting low. the thermostat is simply a black box with a knob with numbers around it wich is the temps. there are two wires comeing out of it, a blue and black. what i did was cut open a extenison cord and wire it in-line. cut the blk wire(hot) in half and wired the blue wire off the thermostat on to the blk wire going to the plug, then the black wire off the thermostat to the other end of the blk wire going to the fan. the thermostat works but in reverse of what i wanted it to do. is this because of the wiring? if i turn the temp up on the thermostat my fan cuts off. if i turn it down it cuts on. this i not what i want. any ideas?
