    Moving Out!

    Well well well...

The time has come, ladies & gentlemen, for me to finally move out of my parent's household. I will be starting the new year with a giant leap in my life, which is CENSORED AWESOME!!

I found a 4 bedroom house about five mins away from my work, where three young college graduates who seem to really enjoy playing Guitar Hero reside...When I walked in, there was like 6 asian people playing GH, and they had the guitar, the bass, the drum set, and the damn microphone too! They look like really smart and educated people though, and seem very different from me. I do not believe they are acquainted with the wonders of maryjane, but then..you never know. There's always Hope!

Geo was telling me about that part of your life...when you move out on your own and evolve as a person. I am really excited about it and ready to make some drastic changes in my life. I think from now on, I will probably be moving around a lot. It seems like being at your parents provides you with that extra reassurement behing your back, which kind of slows you down sometimes.. I dunno, maybe it's just me. But it seems that once you are free and responsible for yourself, you just never know what could happen!

Anyway guys, sorry for the rambling but I am so stoked! hahaha.

How was it when you guys moved out? Were you ready from months in advance...or last minute without preparation? I bet things get serious once it happens huh! Let's hear it.

For those who haven't yet.. any plans, yet? Anxious to get the F out or trying to stay in as long as possible?

    Moving Out!

I was definitely ready to move out, both when I went away to college and when I moved further out to go to med school and residency, which was the first time I really supported myself on my own. You definitely DO evolve as a person because you suddenly have to deal with all the stuff someone else helped out with or did for you. Cooking and laundry were hard for me. You have to get good at budgeting and managing your money, which spends fast. With roommates, you have to learn the ways of living with new people who aren't your family and be respectful of them. You learn to adapt in new ways and take care of yourself.

The freedom of realizing you can do whatever you want or go wherever you want is great. Once you're out and have tasted that freedom, you'll want to stay out and on your own for good. Or else you'll be like me and want to be on your own until you find a woman you can't live without. If you pick the right one, she won't cramp your style. She'll enhance it.

I got kicked out when I was 18 and now at 45 I am glad, I was not too happy about it at the time though.
You are evidently looking forward to being screwed by your roommates, that is what roommates do. They use your stuff, eat your food, smoke your weed and never replace anything.
    Never live with strangers.

I dont think I can agree with you there Faster Spider

I moved to New Zealand after highschool where I am now dude, its the best change ive had in my life for sure. You get to leave behind so much petty bull that you had with your parents. Most kids go through the arrogant and false sense of independence in college but when you are truely supporting yourself in every aspect it is very different.

Look at some other flats too, cool people make a huge difference in your experience. You'll never be able to imagine living with your parents again once you leave

    Moving Out!

One of the best parts of moving is shaking up your social circle and adding a new dimension to it. New housemates and neighbors are wonderful, and you might make a lifelong friend. You never know! That's the great part!
I went into the military right out of high school, and then moved back home wiht my parents during college, then was up in Alaska fishing and didn't have any home at all, then lived with my old college roommate, then a longterm boyfriend... honsetly I can say that I truly did not move out 'on my own', into a place that was truly my choice, until I bought my current house at 26. But the positive changes in my life since then have been amazing. I've become part of a real freindly community in my tiny neighborhood and feel -FINALLY- dare I say like a grownup? hahaha.
Have SO much fun! Good luck on the move! Keep that excitement going... it will help when you can't get that sofa through the door (or the window).

Believe me you, I was expecting dis-agreement when I said what I said.
There were roommates in the past that were not bad but in general it is better to live on your own by your own self.
I live with my woman and that is good enough for me even though moving into a bigger house and sharing it with a friend would be more advantageous to us all. Been there, done that and aint doing it again.
It is different when you are 18 or 19 and moving out for the 1st time and CanaDanks, I wish you the best in your journey.

Dave Byrd, that was really well said...and very inspirational!

fasterspider, I totally understand what you are saying, however.. I definitely do not plan on letting anyone walk over me. That is for damn sure! I am ready to make some changes to my life though.. I know I will have to adapt to their lifestyle, which is fine...but nobody is going to take advantage of me. Thanks for the good wishes!

StinkyCereals, see that's what I'm saying when I say you just never know what could happen. and yeah I am hoping to find some cool friends in that house too! Thanks to ya as well!

Thanks to all of you too
