I think anything you end up doing is good just because it would be different from a christmas you're used to. i don't know how traditions became so significant that a day like christmas is a failure without them. traditions blur memory; what's going to stick out in your mind if it's always the same thing? I say be yourself on xmas and cultivate a charitable or christmasey attitude the rest of the year. I don't know why we're supposed to feel a certain way at a certain time of year, and a better inquiry might be 'how does one make every day of the week as exciting and relishable as a holiday?'
