I don't blame the drug, but don't think it is necessarily the individuals fault either or at least not at first. The worse the problem gets the more evidently and obviously it is having an adverse effect on you and those around you, at this point it is only up to the individual to come back into the real world as dull as it may at first seem.
Especially drugs like DXM when used at a high rate like my friend Juggalo does, five times a week it seems. Evidence does suggest use of this drug can for lack of better word fuck your brain up. Im not just talking about Olneys lesions:

There are many documented cases of people, just search the internet, who have used dxm as well as pcp and ketamine, managed to quit but and feel as if they are having mental problems several months later. Example: http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=7577 (search the other reports)
Some of our other friends have also had problems with DXM in the past year, but have managed to quit.
This is what I think andy,
You turn on, you find it inside, and then you have to come back (since you can't stay high all the time) and you have to build a better model. But don't get caught - don't get hooked - don't get attracted by the thing you're building, cause... you gotta drop out again.

no offense juggalo, but thats all bullshit. you're changing your perception of reality by thoroughly fucking up your brain, and how it percieves the world. the same thing happened to me when i did mushrooms, i thought i had all the answers, but all it does is rewire the neurons in your brain so that nothing will ever be the same again, pretty soon youll feel like a stranger in your own body, and youll wish to god you would have never done it in the first place.

i wouldnt trust anything that you get from a drug, what i decided to do was when i realized that i was acting all cool with everything like knew everything i noticed it just wasnt right so i stopped for a month to let my mind get back. if you just keep going at it non stop your going to lose track of where you started. im much happier now that im back and i know that i was fucking myself over with that and i was able to get my head straight again.

I absolutely believe in the power of the subconscious to give you good advice you might not think of on your own. I also believe in the power of certain substances to make it more clear to you. I don't believe that by eating a psilocybin fungus or drinking a cough medicine you'll unlock the secrets to life. You might gain a little more insight into your own life, if you use the shit in moderation, but in the end there's not much mystical about it. It's all in your head from the very start.
I try to remember that when I have four strips of blotter acid in my room and I get tempted to trip out every weekend.

i dont even think that any substances give u answers. its all in ur head basically. i went on a dxm trip last night. 300 mg and it was my 3rd time. i smoked sum weed and tripped my ass off. but ya i thought i was getting answers but when i was sober it was just stuff that already made sense to me. i say do these drugs whenever u want just dopnt expect to reach nirvana or sumthing like that. the most u can expect is a good trip.

why i love dxm
I think i have taking DXM for almost 6 years now. Some of those years included spans of months where i would take it at LEAST once every single day. After a while i was pissing blue and would eat and sleep maybe once every three days.
Though i only take it occassionaly now i still learned something very important from that. It doesnt mean anything, you can abuse your flesh all you want and it doesnt make a bit of difference to your mind. In theory my brain should be rotted and putrefying in my skull but im the same person, as lucid and competent as ever, and after long periods of sobriety i feel no different than i did after long periods of intoxication.
Everything is a matter of control, learn to control your involuntary body functions, and your synapses will follow. It isnt a matter of what a drug may be doing to you, because you are still you regardless, it is moreso a matter of how you choose to react to the stimulation of hallucinogenic intoxication. All it does is make you feel slightly different, you ultimately choose to invent "religious" experiences off of it but its really nothing you couldnt come up with sober, you may just lack the motivation.
also i think robitussin is nasty, bleck...

Next time I dxm trip, i'm going to do probably 550-600 mg. Should be interesting. I'll also probably smoke a good amount subsequently.
