    HELP! Killing Plants

    Hi

6 Days ago my wife acquired 5 Northern-lights clones.
She was told they were good to go and would only have to water them till time to transplant.

The first mistake was to put them into an unfinished grow area.

No intake fans were operating and over night the soil dried up and seriously damaged 3 plants. Plants A,B & C in photos. Plants D & E didn't seem to suffer much stress.

The Tops of plants A & C withered, but with a good watering they seemed to revive. Tops died but new growth appeared.

On the leaves Yellow tips began to form then turning brown on very tip. Plant B started turning yellow all over and wilted.

I have no idea what is in the soil or what type soil it is so I get worried. Plant B was dieing so I decided to transplant it into some soil I have from a 12 year old compost pile I have. While in the process of transplanting I find there is no real root system. Plant B is little more than a cutting. I have no rooting hormone so I make a batch of Willow Tea "Home Brew Rooting Hormone". I doused the soil and tented the "Cutting" hopefully this will work.
It stopped wilting and leaves are rising to light again.

Plant D is showing minor signs if the tip yellowing and leaves are turning light green on edges, but E has no yellow. It looks like plant E is a but older than the others.

I have only used tap water on them except B "Willow Tea"
I have no Idea of soil makeup but didn't want to mess with them
and find they have no root system either. The lighting is 18-6, temp is running at 73 f, the vent runs at 32 cfm. with 2- 3" intake fans.
No ph tester at moment getting one in the A.M.

Any Ideas? I would sure hate to lose them all. Hope photos help.

    HELP! Killing Plants

    Hi Again :twocents:
Glad to report all the clones live.

A plant could die waiting on a response.
Did I not include enough info to merit a reply?:sorry1:

Met some folks on another forum and they gave me lots of info.
Anyway, I pretty much revamped everything and they are healthy again.

Please some input on why I received no response, I would love to be a helpful part of this community.

New Pix about a week ago.
Last 2 this mornin after cloning. Going to 24/0 till clones are rooted, then maybe the runt will catch up.

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Sorry about lack of reponse, man. It happens at times, especially around the holidays/weekends. Glad they pulled out of it.

    HELP! Killing Plants

The clones in your original post actually looked fairly normal for newly-acquired cuts. They rarely look as nice as you'd like, lol.
It seemed you had a good handle on everything and you did. Compost is kinda scary indoors, but if you are confident that you can deal with any pests you introduce, the plants do really like it. In the future, I'd only bring bagged sterilized compost into an indoor grow.
But your plants look great and your instincts were good. Nice work.

    HELP! Killing Plants

Thank you for your replies all

I was thinking, I was coming off wrong and no one wanted to deal with me.

Good point Stinkyattic, on the compost, I wasn't thinking pests.:i feel stupid:
I have had to deal with Spider mites, I used Neem, since my wife
won't let me have Praying Mantis in the house.

Since adding the MH, I have had to deal with the heat. 90+deg.
    and 20% humidity.
I added a bathroom exhaust, under the house in crawlspace, and vented the cool air into the cabinet. 50cfm
Also added 10 fan for circulation.
Temp at 76 HI and 69 lo, humidity is 27% now.
    Is this enough humidity?
What can I do to increase humidity?

In photo 2 the top temp indicates the temp 1/2 up wall with a light shade over thermometer.
Lower temp is at the blue box in photo 3 on plant soil. 2 1/2" pipe is hooked to the 50cfm exhaust
under house blowing in. Had to rig a wind shield at base of plants
to stop direct cooling of the pots. They were getting cold, not sure if Cold soil and Hot air mix well.

Aww, praying mantis are the most pious of the insects.
Keep the plants adequately watered. As tehy grow, they will release more humidity into the air. A lasagne pan of water will help as well. Key is surface area. Tell your lovely wife that you need to borrow it so that the mantids will have a place to practice the backstroke. tee hee.

Stinkyattic thx for that quick reply,
I just read your reply in Cloning(rooting) thread.

Didn't know about too much light on clones, getting mine under CFLs, ASAP.

    THANK YOU
