Who hates the X-mas?!
I can't stand what X-mas has become with the over commercialization
Christmas is suppose to celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and i hardly see anything of that nature
i also cant stand
the lights
the trees
the caroling
celebrities releasing xmas albums
Christmas themed movies always suck ass
i do like the coming together as a family part of christmas

Who hates the X-mas?!
^ I have to agree on the x-mas album thing. *shudders* Nothings worse than someone like Celine Dion or U2 to sing "silent night". Actually, No One should sing this shit.

Who hates the X-mas?!
Things I like about it:
Vacation from school/rest time
Quality time with family. I like my family.
The cooking (usually) and eating
Christmas lights and decorations
That it's a season of giving and reflection. I think it's fun to give presents and give to good causes at the same time
Things I hate about it:
The mercenary/commercial crap
The fact that it starts in October nowadays instead of after Thanksgiving. That's just nuts. This year I was sick of Christmas music and over-saturated with Christmas retail promotions before the middle of November.
The cleaning in preparation for--and after--the guests and parties.
The crowds in stores and traffic on the streets. This time of year brings people who otherwise would be holed up at home out into circulation. That can't be a good thing. As my grandmother used to shake her head and say, "Go home, you fools."
That it can be an occasion of sadness if you've lost loved ones. I particularly miss my older sister at this time of year.
That it is, for many people, a time of sadness because they don't like their families or circumstances. It's also a time when people more keenly feel financial strains. That's enough to stress anyone out.
The feeling of obligation. Obligation to host people at parties or be gracious to folks in social situations that I don't particularly like. Obligation to go to gatherings because it's expected instead of because I want to. Obligation to cook and clean and decorate, even at times when I don't want to.
The fact that the vacation from school or work always comes to an end far too quickly.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

Who hates the X-mas?!
The ancient pagan Winter Solstice, which was celebrated by mankind long before the mythical birth of the christ, is a much better holiday tradition.
A lot of the xmas music that is played is garbage, which is unfortunate since there is some good holiday music out there.
If I had to choose, I'd prefer a commerical xmas to a "spiritual" one. I enjoy the holiday decorations in NYC store windows, Rockefeller Center tree, etc. At least there are no mangers or baby jesus involved. I posted a few pictures that I took last week: http://boards.cannabis.com/cannabis-...quare-nyc.html
Happy Winter Solstice!

Who hates the X-mas?!
It certainly was a lot more fun when my child was younger. Just watching Christmas morning thourgh those young eyes (yes, an innocent belief in Santa Claus was/is magical, IMO) was enough to make up for all the commercial bullshit years ago.
Now, while I have younger nieces and nephews that still believe, it's just not the same.
