what do you do when you're coughing so hard you can't breathe?

i've never really had this problem til recently... as some may know i hadn't had a hook up forever, then finally about a month ago or so he got out of jail for the third time.... but NOW that he's out, we smoke some of the best of the best (in our price ranges) i mean mids so good i didn't even know they existed in this area til a month ago (after 9 years of smoking and living in this same town)

but now that we've been smoking this stuff pretty much daily for a month my lungs are still getting used to smoking all the time again... and i got sick a few weeks back.. and since then i cough my ass off for nothing... even worse when i take a normal hit and when i take a huge hit my face turns red and i can't stop coughing long enough to breathe...

so does anyone have any tricks for when they're in that situation? both to soothe the cough and open your airways again...? it's quite the pain, especially when i'm not at my house smoking and we need to keep a low profile...

of course i know quitting smoking cigs would help, cutting down on what i smoke in weed would too... but i'm looking for alternatives other then those.

Relax, and put your head up. It willl help to allow more 02 into your system.

Raise your arms above your head, breathe slowly and deeply; if you're still breathing too fast, purse your lips and try breathing that way.

Take smaller hits, use glass or wooden pipes, and don't drastically change your smoking habits.

part of the problem tends to be that once you cough out all the smoke from a large rip your lungs empty out more than their normal volume in one exhale. you then try to suck in air quickly to replace that lost volume which irritates your windpipe which you just raped with a massive quantity of shitty smoke (especially if you're not hitting a bong or vape), the result is that you don't get enough air so you start to hyperventilate instinctively.

If you try and force yourself to relax and take slow breaths, which may need to be very shallow at first, you'll come through it faster and more easily. Eventually your body will get past the shock of the coughing and either cough less or adapt to not freak the fuck out when you take an epic hit.

you have to force that one, deep breath in. slowly.

try squatting down and hugging your knee's this should help compress the chest

Everytime i used to cough, i'd tell myself not to, and i just tried to surpress it. Also, i always had some water next to me. After a while it stopped tickling my throat triggering the cough, so now i just dont cough. I still make sure i've got a drink next to me though just incase.

I think you just have to train yourself up somewhat lol. I'm glad you got gear though now slip - hope you all have a very merry xmas!
