Do Vaporizers Reduce Heart Attack Risk along w/Lung Risk?

    Hi all,

I just got a Vaporwarez 3G and I love it, use it all the time. Don't smoke anymore.

I know the vaporizer is better for the lungs, but I cannot seem to find out if it lessens the elevated heart attack risk that I've read is associated with smoking weed.

Does anyone know about the heart risks associated with vaping weed as compared to smoking it?

I have read that THC can shrink tumors and protect against heart disease in lab animals, is it possible a vaporizer could actually provide a protective effect?

    Thanks!

Do Vaporizers Reduce Heart Attack Risk along w/Lung Risk?

I doubt this has ever been tested exhaustively. I suspect it also depends on the condition and history of a person's heart, a person's particular type of heart disease, how he/she responds to cannabis, and the strain characteristics of the particular type of MJ.

The best test subject you have is yourself. Do you notice any change in your heart rate or rhythm after vaping? Have you checked your blood pressure both before and after vaping to see how you respond? I've read people's reports here about eaten and vaped cannabis both speeding their heart rates and causing what feels like skipped beats.

My personal hunch is that vaped weed isn't nearly as rough on the heart as smoked. You're not stressing the heart or lungs in the same way by inhaling the vapors as you are by inhaling smoke, particulate, and the benzene/toluene/nitrosamine byproducts of combustion. You're not competing with your oxygen intake as strongly, either. Sorry it took me a while to sign on here and give my .02 cents.

As I understand it, you are still at as much risk regardless of whether you smoke or vape, but unless you're at least 45 years old or have a heart-related health problem you shouldn't have an increase in risk of a heart attack. Even after age 45, the increase in risk is comparable to the increase in risk of having a heart attack during sex (I read this years ago, and I would assume this is typical sex....rather than super-rough heart attack-inducing assault via genitalia).

Oh, and we have the same vape! woo-hoo!
