What is irritating is when religion becomes incorporated into media. Religious propaganda is not America.
I disagree that these people's past mistakes negatively harm their poll numbers. The Bush's and Clinton's have made disastrous mistakes, that if people actually were paying attention, neither would have any support at all. The simple fact that over half of democrats think Clinton being wife of a likable, yet not so perfect, president equates to experience is proof enough that people are believing the crap they are being fed. I also disagree that you don't think religious propaganda is not American, I disagree with this completely. I wish it weren't true, but this country is believed by the majority of Americans to have been settled into a Christian society so many believe it should always be that way, despite the constitution's clear instructions to keep religion separate from American government, or the fact that references to God on our money and in our pledge of allegiance were only added recently.

Religion has, and always will, be very closely tied to any person desiring power, IE, US Presidents. If this weren't true, then the issue would not come up because people would not care about a president's religion, but they do. Even if the voter isn't a perfect model for that popular religion, they always will want their leader to at least look more perfect than they try to be. So rather than waste the time and energy at researching each candidate, they just look for the one that sounds like someone God would want and wherever they take this country is justified under the glory of God.

Again, I wish this wasn't true and religion wasn't important when selecting a president of the United States, but I also wish Santa Claus would ride his fat ass down my chimney next week and leave presents under my Christmas tree. Don't think that'll happen though :stoned:
