Well... its all one piece the base is not hollow it does not come apart, the water can only go down to the top of the base, its heavy, its hard to clean the bottom part has a water ring that Formula 420 will not get rid of, i paid $60 for it at Mother Murphys in Bloomington, IL (45 min from me)
