    bubble hash questions

i have some questions about making bubble hash, i undersand how to do it and why it works.
    BUT
there are still some things about it that im not sure of even after reading tons of threads on assorted forums and watching hours of videos.

#1 wet or dry...... is it better to use fresh trim or dry????

#2 what size mesh it the peice of drying cloth that comes with some bags? (mine came with none) would coffee filter work for squeeze drying the final product?

    &
#3 BUDS all the info i find on bubble bags is about "TRIM" i plan to use quite a bit of bud material in mine so.... SHOULD I CHOP ALL THIS BIGGER STUFF UP FIRST OR WILL THE BIGGER BUDS BREAK UP IN THE WATER WHILE IM MIXING???

1- I've only tried it with dry trim. Wet is suggested by the manufacturer, but we don't all have the luxury of LOADS of wet trim. If you want to store trim, either dry it and store in paper bags, or freeze the fresh stuff.

2- I believe it's 10u. Rather than a coffee filter, which is rough and quite porous, a fine silk scarf with a glossy finish (silk satin) folded between several layers of paper towel is preferable.

3- yeah, break up larger buds. It's more efficient.

    Hey stinky:

You can freeze fresh trim? I thought that made the trichomes explode. Thought I read something about that with bud. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I've never put any cannabis products in the freezer myself, so I'm just trying to learn here!

    1. Dry and cured will give the most return.
You can use fresh, but it must be very fresh. Like within the first 72 hours.
After that, the chlorophyll is breaking down, and will give you green hash.
I always wait until all the chlorophyll has dissipated and the weed is fully cured before making hash.
    2. I use a coffee filter. It works fine. Don't try to rush (squeeze) it. Let it dry naturally.
    3. I use a grinder to crush the buds.

thanks for all the tips : )

i dont know if im going to freeze the trim and buds but i will have plenty of ice and COLD water : )

i think doing this outside at nite will help???? (its getting into like the 20's at nite here)

i got a 3 bag set, 5 gallon, from some place that i think makes them locally.

the sizes are measured differently than the name brand sets
the name brand sets use "MICRONS" 25micron or 200micron ect.

but my set is measured in somethingths of an inch : ) ??? :wtf:

can anyone do a conversion and tell me what "micron" sizes mine are???

ok here is how they are marked
    #1 .0077"
    #2 .0026"
    #3 .0024"

actually, doing it in the cold may slow the process.
Part of what helps the trichomes detach is the constant slow melting of the ice. The trich's stick to the surface of the ice, the ice melts, and the trich's fall.

That's already happening in the ice water. I don't freeze my trim anymore. I don't think it really makes the hash any better.
