Pump Gas in the Morning
Gasoline has a much higher coefficient of thermal expansion than water, which means that a gallon of gas at 0°C weighs more than a gallon at 20°C, since it has expanded with heat and gotten less dense. Underground storage tanks are fairly thermally insulated, so you really get more of an effect seasonally rather than across the day, but it's there. The gas currently sitting in the hose is fully susceptible to this effect, so ironically if you only fill up a little (to avoid vapors), you get a bigger effect from temperature in the afternoon to offset the savings. OTOH, it also means that pumping just a little at a time and only in the morning probably helps more.L Rag Reviewed by L Rag on . Pump Gas in the Morning Interesting? Rating: 5

Pump Gas in the Morning
You know I heard this several years ago and being in Florida this is important. Some news story reminded me about this the other day and I was going to post this but hey good job, you beat me to it. It is always best to buy your gas when it is the coldest time of the day as you get more.

Nah, i run my car and vans on marine diesel [33p a litre or around that mark] and i dont pay for it. We've got our own underground tanks at the boatyard i work. Compared to a boats fuel tank, im hardly using any of it!
But i dont think i'll be able to do it for much longer coz customs have caught on [almost ALL the boatyards in the area use marine diesel for the vans] so customs want to start dying marine diesel white. Much like agricultural diesel is dyed red.
The only differnce between normal city diesel and marine is the slight differnce in viscosity and colour [and tax]
I have made my own bio diesel before though, but it's too much hassel lol! I'm too lazy!

Is it? We've got TONS of the stuff over here! The amount of fish and chip shops is very high - so with that goes alot of used oil!
We should ship it over - a new export!
