i would stay away from old soil that might have already been used, too many unknown problems could lead to a unhealthy plant.

but if your set on using it.....you will need some ferts. N-P-K (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.) during your vegging you will need high nitrogen and low P K. when you switch to flowering you will need more of P and K. on all fertilizers there will be three numbers at the bottom (#-#-#) which you will use in either veg or flower cycle.

They will start to flower once the days start to get shorter...
also, like that guy above said, you want to look at the numbers on the soil package. N-P-K. I'd suggest that in veg, you use something like 10-5-5. And a higher P value than N in flower
Honestly, though, it's strange that you planted these in December. You really should have waited until spring. But I guess they will revegetate once the days start to get longer again.

Also, check for the pre-flowers on the plants once it gets close to flowerin' time. You should then be able to tell which are males and which are females -- therefore, you can chop the males before they have time to impregnate the females! Unless you want free seeds for your next grow, that is.

You can go fishing for one single fish, kill it and bury it under your plant...they love dead fish, also seaweed is free and that helps alot. $5 can buy you a fairly big bag of sheep manure which really helped my outdoor grow. You can also use organic bottled ferts(no need for chemicals), make sure it has highest P (Prospherous) and less N (Nitrogen)
(N-P-K rating on bottle). Burnt banana skins are good for flowering as they have phospherous and also burnt Cucumber skins, blood and bone also (set you bck another $5 or so for a small bag)

I highly recomend fish though. One of our goldfish died when we transplanted them into a bigger pond so i burried it under close to my plant and it absolutely loved it, it thrived like hell once the fish decaded(i guess) and its free if you have a fishing rod or a net! Seweed also is best (alot of fertilisers use seaweed extract in their products)

you have the risk of an animal going nuts over the smell of dead fish and digging up your plants.
