    soil?

A lot of people swear by Fox Farm soil. I personally justed use "plain" soil and add in vermiculite and perlite at about 2:1:1 give or take.

Try to stay away from soils with time-release ferts as they can easily burn babies or nut lock you down the road. Much easier to have a blank slate IMHO and then add the ferts you want over time.

I'd suggest reading everything you can on these boards and anywhere else for that matter before you start. There is plenty of info out there.

Depends on how much you are going to need and your budget. Fox Farm is not cheap but is the best from what I read. I use Mirical Grow Moisture Control and I am having great results. But like what Eggroll said you have to becareful with the nutes. I would stay away from the super cheap soils, I found they are mostly sand with some compost thrown in.

Try your local nursury and ask for there best top soil, at mine it runs around $4.00 to $5.00 a bag then add vermaculite and perilite. This is just an idea. Do not get it from HD or Lowes that stuff is terriable used it before in my outdoor flower garden before and was less than impressed.

That was my logic. That was also the soil that I chose. Now I'm having to do a full flush today to bring my pH back up due (in part) to the peat moss in the mix. This is after already adding dolomitic lime beforehand.

    I recommend eggrole's advice.
