Does anyone know how to knit?

I'm trying to teach myself to knit. I must be extremely special because I've watched every video on Youtube and read every tutorial and I've figured out how to cast on, but I can't figure out how to do the knitting itself.

If anyone knows how, could you possibly explain in Zwitter (lamens) terms how YOU do it? I'm just trying to start with a simple scarf of one color.

I'd really, really appreciate it!

I know how to knit, but it's almost impossible to explain over the Web. Basically you have to slide the knitting needle into the loops from the cast-on process one at a time, then you pull the yarn over between the needles, then slide the opposing needle out in a particular way, creating a new stitch. The best possible way to learn is to work with someone in person who knows how to knit. Craft stores and senior centers are full of people who know how to knit and would be happy to help you, I'm sure! I always have to re-teach myself to knit when I pick it up again, and I do that from a basic learn-to-knit booklet I picked up at a craft store.

Can you crochet? I can't but am determined to learn. I bought myself a kids' how-to-crochet kit to learn that. I'm going to pull it out over the holiday and see if I can teach myself.

I do not know how to knit. But my ex wife was into it. Join a knitting group in your area. I would think that someone showing you would be easier.
