basic questions please =) wont take long time
Dude this is my first plant, and i am really noob at this, could someone answer me the following questions please....
Do i have to kill the plant to smoke it? I mean, by the time i have to harvest it, will i have to kill it?... I really dont want to kill it....
Is there a way to not harvest it entirely? I mean just cut some leaves.... The point is, i want to smoke and keeping my plant alive you know... it is posible?
And my second question is... Do i really have to put 17.000 lumens in just one plant? The point is, i redirect all the light from a 3600 lumens, and i see no difference between all the CFL bulbs i have
This is the second week, i am doing well?

I havent see the PH, i just got 4000k CFL lights over the plant with aprox 15000 lumens.
And the third question, really from a begginner lol....Is enought a plant for just one person? or will i have to clone it infinitely?
Thank you all!ojitos1985 Reviewed by ojitos1985 on . basic questions please =) wont take long time Dude this is my first plant, and i am really noob at this, could someone answer me the following questions please.... 1.) Well if you want some decent weed to smoke, then you have to kill the plant...it can be re-vegged but it is difficult...it is less difficult to grow a new plant(i think), or take clones...
2.) lumens...well i don't really know, so i say nothing...
for myself...i have 4 small plants under 8000 lumen....
3.)One plant for one person? depends on how big the yield is, and how much you smoke..

If you continue to flower a plant long after its flowering stage finishes (as determined by its genetics) your plant will most likely go hermi on you and pollinate itself. Even if you don't want to kill the plant will eventually eat itself. This plant is genetically programmed to grow for as long and hard as it can, but once you enter the flowering cycle (12/12) the clock is ticking. The plant will eventually start to eat herself (nutrients from the leaves and such) in order to flower more efficiently, this plants goal is to grow, flower, make seeds then die.
Basically you screw with mother nature and she screws back...in this case she screws her self (quite literally) but you get the point.
You've gotta kill it to get the best bud you can out of it.

thx for the reply zebulon and gundari, thats bad news for me lol...
So you guys, kill every plant that you smoke it? that is missed in the FAQ post LOL....
I have read that you could smoke the leaves, and the effect is quiet cool, in that case, you could smoke in veg 18/6 time, all the time, is that correct?, is there at least a little THC in the leaves without entering the flowering stage?

If you're smokin' leaves, you aren't getting much if any THC. In other words, you're not really getting high. If you wait until the plant is done flowering, and take all the extra leaves, you can make hash if you want. But, no, smoking leaves off a vegging plant isn't going to do anything.
You need about 4,000 to 5,000 lumens per sq. ft. to grow well. Seedlings don't take up much room. Youer single plant, for instance, looks like it's in a 5" or 6" pot. You could use a single 26 watt CFL for the next week or so and be okay. It's only when the plant starts getting bigger and has more area for the light to strike that you need to up the light amount. 17,000 lumens is enough for 2 or even 3 full size plants. It's way, way more than you need right now.
And, yeah, you gotta kill the plant. But, look at it this way. Put a female near a male on your next grow. You'll get a ton of seeds. You're not a killer anymore. Now you're a daddy.

search for re-veging. it can be done it just takes a while. harvest what you want and leave some little buds and or leaves at the bottom, then put the lights on24/24 it will start to grow again.

From your pic your plant looks heathy and happy,
You can reveg a plant but it takes a long time, as for smoking some now, don't bother.
Let me put it this way if you are trying to get away from getting buds from the guy down the street, you are going to have to wait 12 or more weeks. UNTILL THEN YOU ARE GOING TO NEED TO GET BUDS FROM THE GUY DOWN THE STREET! If you don't. You will get a little bud here and there that would have turned into a big bud, while still while getting the buds from the guy down the street. Then when you do harvest you will have enough bud to last a few weeks then it is back to getting bud from the guy down the street.
If you do end up with a female plant (50/50 chance you have a male) and have a good grow and do everthing to maximize your yeild and leave it alone (not pinching buds before they are ready) you will end up with enough bud to last you the time untill your next harvest and not have to go see the guy down the street.
Ok enough on that subject. Next cloaning, if you do end up with a female plant and is a good producer you will want to cloan it, think of it this way. You are going to kill mama but you could conceivably have 15 offspring that are identical to mama. They are already sexualy mature so you can veg for only 2 to 3 weeks and then go to 12/12 for 8 weeks cutting down the time between harvests.
Then if I were you I would concider germinating 2 to 3 more seeds, this will increase your odds of having a female. I would hate to see you waste 5 or more weeks of time only to find out you grew a male.
I am only trying to give you advice on how to get away from having to purchase your smoke in the future. You are on the right track to achieve this, just keep us posted and start a grow log in the grow log sub-folder and we will help you along every step of the way.
Wish you the best of luck on your grow and keep us posted.

thx for the answer Roughrider, twoguysupnorth and Jerry Garcia 2007 you making happy a begginer here lol :P ...
I am taking lots of pictures so i can make a blog :P, and you right jerry garcia, its just one plant, if it is male, i will be sad lol, so actually i am germinating 6 more but they just dont grow up, i putted them into a 40° furnace with high humidity.
Actually i am considering cloning it, if it is female,... but how can i know if it is female, if i dont go into Flowering stage, and i know after flowering you cant cloning, is my logical wrong or something.
(just dumb questions but not answered in stickis)

when plants start maturing there are preflowers that you should be able to tell if they are male or female. probably at about 6 weeks old at the nodes/crotches of the leaves/branches. i wasnt good at guessing the first time i tried, i flowered them anyways and i wasnt correct on a few of them. now i would say i could tell since i have seen them a few times. i like to take 3 clones from each plant to increase the survival rate, number them and the parent plant with the same # and flower the parent as usual. once you know what the parent plant is, you keep the clones from the female ones and you have some ready to go as soon as you harvest. some people do the opposite and flower a clone first and find what the parent will be to save room but i like my way better. you will need a second light on a different schedual to do this. a cfl works fine for starting clones and starting them off into cups untill they get too big. and you can clone as soon as you know the sex in flowering but it isnt the best way.
