Naught only are we taught to fight, but it's instinct. Competition is one of the most primal instincts animals have, competition usually leads to aggression in some form or another.

Those students at Penn State University who dressed up as Virginia Tech students who were killed, have the same viewpoint as you, L Rag. What makes a mass killing in the U.S. any more significant than a mass killing in Africa? We all know the killing in the U.S. is of no more significant than a killing anywhere else in the world. But the million dollar question is, what causes people to perceive otherwise?

Americans as a whole, In my opinion, are spoiled to the bone. We are censored from everything. Actual killing and violence, drugs, poverty. Sure there's plenty of poverty in the United States, but the majority of Americans are taught either to ignore it, or simply don't know about it. We are a nation of very soft people who wouldn't know the first thing to do if we were ever full-blown attacked on our soil. What happens when our infrastructire and all of our reliance on oil, electricity, currency, break down? The United States is going to be a complete mess, and a scary place to live.

Too many people have lost the true meaning of life, in my opinion. In my opinion, the true meaning of life, is to simply survive long enough to reproduce. It's when we start indulging in certain things that we take a turn away from our true being. You don't see animals indulging in the things we do, or anything for that matter. Everything they do, has a purpose and a goal, and is purposeful to their survival. They take what they need and nothing more. We take what we need, and then some.

As for the institution of religion breaking down, I don't think the people behind the scenes will let that happen. Religion is the most prominent and efficient way to get a person, or masses of people, to do what you want, to act the way you want them to, to keep them from doing something or even keep them saying something. How do you think George W. Bush was elected president? He realized the majority of the country is religious, so he portrayed himself as the candidate that everyone could associate themselves with, a New-born Christian.

Religion is in everything. It's alarming, they teach us in school that we have Separation of Church and state, when it is quite obvious there is very little separation. We have "In God we Trust" imprinted on all of our currency for fuck sake.
