Amsterdam becoming illegalized?

A friend last night asked me "you hear about whats happening to amsterdam?" and i thought maybe something about cannabis cup or somethin... but he told me it was becoming ILLEGALIZED after spring break of 08. anybody know whats up with that?? im planning my trip asap if this is the case..

pot has always been illegal in Holland, it just isn't enforced, nobody cared ... things change ... :jointsmile:

I refuse to believe it. Cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands due to their obligations to the international treaties, they can't legalize it if they wanted to. So they decriminalized possesion of up to 5 grams. They may be reducing the number of coffeeshops but they''re not irradicating them all together. They're there to stay, imo.

the thing they was thinking of doin was if you are not a citizen of amsterdam and you are caught smoking cannabis they WILL inforce the law apon you, but like drag commented on i just cant see them stopping theyre most renowned tourism pulls.

Because in reality Nederland is very catholic.
Because they get flack from other European countries because of drug tourism and the amount of French and German smugglers.
Because some Nederlanders believe it brings in the wrong kind of tourist.
