please help! with bowls

I enjoy experimenting with many differents designs of homemade bongs. But due to recent posts i have read, aluminum foil is bad for the bowl of a bong. My question is if i make a bowl out of the chrome socket in a socket wrench can i use ordinary screen that you put in widows, so as not inhale any bad smoke?

Window screens are plastic so that would probably just melt and make a mess
Chrome sockets are fine though
