So I got a hermie....now what?
I thought about putting this question in the plant problem section, but I really don't think it belongs there. This is not a question about what to do with the hermie. I already know about that. Rather, it's a question about how to make my grow succeed despite the hermie......
So, for those of you who haven't figured out the plot yet- I've got a hermie. It's the biggest of the two plants that I talked about here - http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-gr...-down-top.html. And it didn't hermie just a little bit, I've got balls at almost every node on the top 18" of the plant. So now what?
The way I see it, I've got one of two choices.
I can keep the hermie. If I do this I would want to aggressively prune the bottom growth, keeping only the main flowering stems. This would minimize the number of bud sites that I have to check, and still allow me to keep the plant and get a harvest off it.
OR
I can chop it and finish the grow with just the one plant. I can LST some of the lower branches to give them some more light. I'm already planning on getting a clone off this plant to use as a mother for future grows. Maybe I can take some extra cuttings and do a quick SoG style rubbermaid bubble bucket?
Advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Because right now I'm too discouraged to make a rational decission.

why would you clone and use as a mother plant known hermy?
i would think you just taking a chance of growing hermys, i myself would take the clones and use for a mother the other plant.

So I got a hermie....now what?
my bagseed plant threw bananas at about week 10 of flower....no big deal. i figure it was a bit of a light leak issure that is now fixed. its now in week 12 and so far not too many seeds forming. it's almost ready to chop down.
my point is, keep the hermie if you want a harvest. you could always make hash or what have you.

yeah, if you want to get a harvest off the hermie w/o seeding up your non-hermie? im sure this is what you want, aye? just bud it out w/o letting direct air hit the hermie and, if it were me, ild manually pick off nanners. you said top was nutting up more? chop the top? and bud the rest to have smoke. this is my Opinion. gl help_needed

Well, I went ahead and chopped it. Keeping air flow off it simply wasn't an option. They're in a small hydro hut and I have to move a lot of air through it just to keep temps down. And hand picking the male flowers just wasn't viable. The plant was too big with way too many male flowers on it. It would have been an all day job.
So I chopped it, planning to keep the last plant. Which has also turned hermie :cursing:. This one isn't so bad, though. All the male flowers are confined to the small side shoots instead of the main flowering branches. I was planning on pruning those shoots off anyway, so I just cut them now. Hopefully I'll get at least *some* bud for all this work.
But I'll say one thing, this is the last time I try to grow with femmed seeds. It's just not worth it. I'll stick with regular seeds from now on and just weed out the males.
