    Quick question on seedling

Has anyone ever had there newly popped out of the soil seedling have their cotyledons stuck together? I'd take a pic but my camera won't focus on it well. My cotyledons are stuck together at the tip and keeping the true leaves from coming out, although one is trying to push out from the side of the cotyledon. Should I be worried? And is there something I could do to help it along? Maybe a little micro surgery???? hahhahahaa

    Thanks for the help. :rastasmoke:

    Quick question on seedling

should be fine. try a light misting if they seem stuck, and if its looking SERIOUS (dont know how), you could always poke it with a thin toothpick or smething to seperate them.

i dont see how itll pose problem tho unless it literally stops the first set of leaves from opening properly...

    Quick question on seedling

I'm going to give it another day or 2 because its not dead yet and obviously growing. The tip is the part that is stuck together so slightly below the top of the cotyledon there are slits where on one side one of the true leaves is trying to poke out from. I'm just afraid to touch it really with any type of instrument to help it along because I don't wanna stress it so early in its life.

Anyone else had this happen? Just seems quite weirddddd?

    Quick question on seedling

I'm guessing this isn't very common, or a stupid question. Wonders why this happens to me on my very first grow.

    Quick question on seedling

I get this pretty frequently when starting seedlings. What's probably holding the cotyledons together is a protective sheath that acts as a second waxy barrier between the shell and the ungerminated sprout. Sometimes this gets stuck to the sprout just after dropping the seed shell. Just take it between your fingernails, and GENTLY slide it off of the leaves. As long as your not overly forceful, you shouldn't damage the sprout. Try not to move the stem a whole lot while you're doing this. Once the cotyledons spread apart, it should resume growth as normal.

    Quick question on seedling

Thanks Clandestine, that WAS the problem. Before I unfortunately fell asleep in a stoner state, I was curious to what it would do today if I played with it. I pretty much just gave the tip of the cotyledon a push up with a tip of a sharp object, never touching the actual plant just this shell that was on it and there it went, it flew up like it wanted to be off!

Now it's on it way to spreading those cotyledons out again and the true leaving are showing now. What a day! OH what a day! haha Thanks for the advice everyone, I searched the site before I posted and only one person had a similar predicament and never really got an answer. Thanks For the help!!!

    Quick question on seedling

I really think every pot smoker should give it a try at growing. Learning about what goes on to make that beautiful bud you smoke beautiful, is in itself a BEAUTIFUL thing. Yay, a third seed has made it through.....LIFE!!!!!!!!
