Amsterdam legality question

so im 15 and my family is going to amsterdam this summer i read u have to be 18 to buy weed so 1. do they follow that law 2. can u smoke it in the cafe if someone else buys it and 3. i dont look 18 sooo what should i do??

Cannabis isn't exactly legal in amsterdam, it is decriminalized. Coffee shops can only have and sell limited amounts to customers and im sure they have to check if you're 18 before selling you anything, and would notice if someone bought you a joint and you smoked it in the cafe.

I am very jealous as I won't be anywhere near Amsterdam until I move to Europe in a couple years. It might be a little difficult for you to get weed (just as it's hard to get alcohol as a minor here, often even harder than illegal drugs) but I'm sure if you can get away from your folks you can ask someone over 18 to buy it for you. Try offering them a little money if you have to. Plan on getting 5 grams maximum as I believe that is the legal limit for personal possession, and beware people who might just take your money and disappear.

If you are <18 and look it, then its like alcohol and you wont get served, despite the easy going nature of the Dutch. Also, they do not want to get into any legal issues and screw it up for everyone, so dont push the issue if on doubt. As the others have suggested, go and find someone.
you can go into a coffee shop; some paretns take their kids in there as the atmosphere is nicer then bars and stuff, and you should be able to find a like minded soul who'll go buy some stuff for you.
If you are not used to it, go for something low potency first....Amsterdam gear is in a class of its own.And if you are there next week, I'll see you there. I'll be the chap wearinga duffle coat and a large fur hat.....its ging to be f***ing freezing!

When I went to Amsterdam last year they wouldn't let anyone into a coffeeshop without phot I.D. They are fairly strict on I.D, without it you pretty much won't get in.There are people on the street selling harder drugs and you could probably score some green from them but I wouldn't advise it, they are not exactly trust-worthy. Funken Monken's probly got the best idea, get someone else to but it for you then bring it out for you. To be honest though the best thing about the coffeeshops was getting to sit and smoke it in your own time, so without that you're missing out on a lot. To be honest I would just wait til you're 18. If you score some and smoke it on your own its not really any different than smokin it at home. Know what I mean?

Some hotels let you smoke weed in the rooms, but you'll have to ask. You could just smoke it walking down the street but that's kinda risky.

I know there's a big park near the Leidesplein plaza, I smoked there a few times, pretty safe. If you look on any map of amsterdam you'll find it. that's the only place I know of, there's probably much better places though.
