    solution for compacted soil?

How does one aerate compacted soil? My soil is so compacted that water will not drain through properly. The soil is retaining too much moisture, and is causing me a lot of problems. :rasta:I have tryed poking holes in the soil with a wooden dowel, but this does not seem to be effective. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

    solution for compacted soil?

Real simple! WORMS! You can get them at bait shops, pet shops, and around here, even the Rite-Aid drug store sells them! The worms eat dead and rotting material and turns them into (expensive) worm castings. They don't hurt your plants and they fluff your soil for you. BUT a lot of chemical ferts can kill them. I grow organically, so no problem!

I was thinking about putting earthworms in my soil, but you brought up a very good point, the nutes. Lets say I do put the earthworms in the soil, can I still give the plant nutes or what ?

Sheesh! Don't use MG alt all! (Do a search on it, kid!) It is all wrong for our plants! Go ORGANIC! Mama Nature knows best! Blood meal, bone meal, manure (especially alfalfa-fed rabbit, if you can find it), compost- THAT'S what you need! Plants have grown, literally, for millions of years without our help, in this wonderful system called Earth. As a general rule, the further we go from Nature, the easier it is to get in trouble- both in growing and living!

I hate growing in a closet! And until it is totally legal, that's where I'll grow. And speaking of legalization....Have you clicked the link below and sent a page or two with the URL to someone who needs their mind opened, or an illness treated? The ONE truth that the prohibitionist speak is that pot will be legalized through the use of medical cannabis! As soon as people see the benefits of this wonderful, easy to GROW, amazingly healing herb, they will want it legal!

So, how about some "41 cent activism"? Print up a page or two, either on the illness (or specialty, if a doctor), or just the page on Alzheimer's and a random "Cancer" page- those being two of the greatest fears of most people- and send them to politicians, relatives, the local DARE officer , whoever you think needs an education. If you don't think your "whoever" is ready for C.com, I also posted it at treatingyourself.com, a down-to-Earth, Canadian medical site. Here's the URL for that post-

My birthday gift to you.... - TreatingYourself.COM Online Community

Imagine the possible effect if all of you mailed out just one 41 cent letter to your doctor, or governor, or even "Aunt Sally" who just found out she has breast cancer/ fears Alzheimer's/ is diabetic. Individually, we are pretty much powerless, but there is this old poem (which I likely will misquote)....

    Little drops of water,
    Tiny grains of sand,
    Make the broadest ocean
    and the long sea strand.

If enough of us do something, even if it is just little things, CHANGE HAPPENS!

Granny:hippy: (very well medicated, tonight!- sorry, I often rant about getting this blessing legal! Didn't mean to highjack. )

MG is not made specifically for our plants but I wouldn't rule it out as a nute. I've used it in the past with no issue.
Just research every nute macro & micro that is needed by canna. MG almost never adds any micro nutes, when they do its not all of the micro nutes needed. I just supplemented MG with a micro solution. Never get extended release crap.
Allot of noobs have the tomato blend(which works), I had the "bloom booster" with some major micronutes.

i think the quickest solution would be to aerate the top/bottom and sides of the medium when you transplant into a bigger container with perlited soil. depending on how much rootmass you have established, you may even want to do some root trimming to promote new growth.
