Nutes, Soils, the usual blah blah blah you're all used to...
Alright, so I'm going to stock up on everything I need before I even start so I have a couple of questions... Currently I have about a cubic foot of Ocean Forest, maybe a little less. I'm going to need some more and I'm thinking about switching over to another soil but we'll get to that in a bit. I also have Fox Farm's Grow Big, Superthrive, and Olivia's Cloning Gel. I'd honestly love to do a grow that is organic as possible so Earth Juice nutes look pretty appealing at the moment. If I were to stick with Fox Farm nutes (Grow Big, Big Bloom) I'd also grab some Microblast, Cal/Mag+, Sweet, and Brer Rabbit Molasses. Just wondering if anyone had a clue as to how well all those mismatched products would work in conjunction with one another? Bad, good, turn my pants on fire? Otherwise I'd grab the Grow, Catalyst (Is Catalyst something like Tiger Bloom and do you even recommend it?), Bloom, Cal/Mag, Sweet, Molasses, Microblast, and MAYBE/probably Meta K.
I'd really like to skip unnecessary nutes other than the Sweet and Molasses but is there even a such thing as an unnecessary nute? I just want to make sure I don't end up with any micro deficiencies at the wrong time. So yeah what do ya think? Would any of these combinations work well with Ocean Forest? The more I read about OF the more I feel that it's really hyped. If I switch off of Ocean Forest I was thinking either a nutrient free medium or Sunshine Organic Planting Mix. Anyone have any advice on a premade soil mix? Yeah, yeah, yeah I'm done. Peace.disABLEme Reviewed by disABLEme on . Nutes, Soils, the usual blah blah blah you're all used to... Well, since my question wasn't the smartest one like "Can I grow in soil with dro seeds?" or "Is this weed", I decided to get everything I mentioned without any advice. I still have to find some Meta K. I went the extra mile and got Big Bloom as well. When I take sister clones I'm going to compare the Earth Juice line with the Fox Farm line. I'm not sure in which way it would best to do it so MAYBE someone could give some advice on the routine. I was thinking that'd I'd use the whole EJ line along with all my micros/supplements on a couple and then use Grow Big, Big Bloom, Microblast, Sweet, Cal/Mag, BR Molasses, and possibly Meta K on the others. Definitely trying to balance it out somewhat so I'm sure you can imagine what I mean.
So right now my arsenal consists of:
Grow Big
Big Bloom
Earth Juice Grow
Earth Juice Catalyst
Earth Juice Bloom
Earth Juice Microblast
Botanicare Sweet
Botanicare Cal/Mag+
Brer Rabbit Blackstrap Molasses
Superthrive (Might switch out for just a B1 or Thrive Alive)
Olivia's Cloning Gel
Vita Grow PH Up and Ph Down
I'm going to kick Ocean Forest to the curb in favor of Sunshine Organic Planting Mix which contains a small amount of nutrients. I'll actually probably mix in a couple bags with the rest of my Ocean Forest to cool it down some. I've had it blaze some of my seedlings so far so I'm not too big of a fan.
But yeah, that's a force to be reckoned with huh? I'm pretty stoked. I think I did a pretty good job at staying organic. I'm not so sure about the Botanicare products and so far I've had problems linking the both of them with "organic" so I'm sure they aren't. Oh well, I think I'd still consider it pretty damn organic. Anyways, peace. :birthday:

Yeah, Botanicare isn't organic but they have an organic-based line (pure blend pro) that doesn't have the OMRI sticker on it but is an EXCELLENT product and I consider herb grown with it equivalent to organic.
If your water source is tap, and you're in soil, you don't need calmag.
Don't use pre-ferted soil on small seedlings. Sunshine Mix from what I have heard is pretty mild though and might work; test it on bagseeds- if they grow to 3 sets of adult leaves without turning yellow, you're in business.

Thanks for the info Stinky. I talked to someone from Sun Gro and they confirmed the Organic Planting Mix has a small amount of nutrients in it. I can get it 8 bucks for 1.5 cubic feet so I'm hoping it'll all work out. I've been using distilled water and I'm thinking about getting a reverse osmosis unit. My city's water has chloramine in it and I'm sure as hell not going to use it. Peace.

Okay, if you use RO water you HAVE to add calmag.
It's going to take more chloramine in your tap water than is probably there to see any problems with your plants. Honestly I'd stick to the tap water UNLESS you see problems.
