    Sugar Water ?

What would be the benefits of useing sugar water to water your plants? I hear they have this stuff called Molassis, its a syrup type of sugar and if you add a teaspoon to you water everytime you water it will help produce lager more dense buds and even add a little sweet taste to it.They say you can use this sugar water and your nutes at the same time.

What does everybody think about this? Fact or Crap ?

    BTW, im nuggrower, mybad fellas!

    Sugar Water ?

I think I read something about sugar water being toxic when smoked (no joke) but I could be wrong. I'm still a bit of a noob.

Hey Nugsmoker, welcome to Canna.com!

The idea you're probably thinking about is that regular supermarket grade molasses can add to the overall weight of the buds, as well as produce a slightly "sweeter" smoke. I'm not sure if molasses itself has ever undergone actual controlled studies, but I'm pretty sure that sugar water has. I believe the carbohydrates are supposed to be beneficial to the roots system, thereby stimulating growth. I could be totally wrong about this, and if so, someone will surely be around soon to correct me!

A lot of people like to use molasses because of the benefits of the sugars, and plus it usually contains micro-nutrients that are good for the plant. I'm a big fan of using molasses, and often mix it with my nutrient regimen with no ill side effects. Just don't add too much, because it can still be toxic if too much is used, and if the concentration isn't diluted enough, it can suffocate your roots. That stuff is sticky!

Don't be afraid to use it in moderation...it's not going to harm your plants.

Clandestine i think you mean welcome back lol, any how yeah your question was obviously answered but im here just to back up what Clande said, it wont hurt to use in moderation, i myself have used it before, but to much and roots will have trouble breathing

You can start supplementing with molasses when your plants would normally start getting nutrients...roughly around three weeks of vegetative growth. I like to feed with molasses periodically during the veg phase, but lots of other growers decide to wait until the plant has been sexed & gone into flowering.

As for the amount, the general consensus seems to be 1-2 tablespoons per gallon, or as Stinky puts it "1 glop per gallon". It can get pretty messy trying to put molasses into a container using a measuring spoon, so many will just drop a half-dollar sized drop into the bottom of the container. Add a cup or two of hot water to the molasses, then mix it up thoroughly to help it dissolve in the water. After that, just add room temperature water to top it off...and your plant will love ya for it!

ok I gotcha, Yeah I remember sombody telling me that they used it only during the flowering stage.Im thinking about useing it every 3 waters during veg. and maybe every other water during flower.

    I have another question now.

When should I top the plant and how many times can I top it?

Also, How often should I give the plant nutes ? Like every other watering ?

Topping is a little controversial to many growers, because some people absolutely swear by it (more colas = higher yield), while others claim that it only stunts growth and that one single fat cola is the better producer.

If you're going to use the topping method, I'd wait until the plant has at least 4-5 nodes. Do it too early, and you may shock your young plant...causing it to grow irregularly, or slow. And if you're going to do it, get it done long before you plan on flowering...so that the plant will have had time to recover. You shouldn't top during flowering at all. This will stress the plant and cause it to expend energy trying to repair itself, as opposed to trying to produce buds.

About topping multiple times, maybe someone else would be able to answer this better. I've heard it can be done, and multiple colas are the result...but I've never tried it, and don't want to give you any bogus information. Another method to keeping plants short & bushy, and adding surface area for buds to receive light later on would be low-stress training (LST). This I do often...it seems to be much less stressful for the plant.

    Hope that helps.

There are 2 ways to getbthe most out of your grow.
    1. topping will cause the lower nodes grow faster and produce more yeild but slows plant growth by as much as 2 weeks.

    2. Low Stress Training (LST) you do this by bending and tying it down at a 90 deg. angle. this also causes the lower nodes to grow but is a lot less stressfull to the plant and affects growth minimally

ok, nodes are like where the side branches grom from the main stem right ???
So all I do for LST is tie it die ( from the top ) at a 90 degree angle and insted of growing straight up it will grow more bushy right? So the buds that grow on the side branches will grow bigger, which also means that the main cola will not grow as big as it would if I just let it grow straight up, correct ?
