A hps 1000 in a 4x4 hydrohut is not practical. They are designed by the manufacturer to accept a 600HPS. Go digital for max efficiency.
If you insist on running a k, an air-cooled hood is MANDATORY and you will want to look into a 6" high-output-type exhuast fan and very likely will need to add an active intake to that tent. The passive flap intakes are fine for the intended heat load in there, but a k throws lots.
If so, that's only 35 watts per square food, aren't you suppose to get 50+ for great buds? I am most definitely getting a digi ballast no matter what however. If I get the 600watt with 4'' fan will I only need the passive intake? A 600watt bulb produces 95,000 lumens, that with the digi ballast will produce as minimum it states 20% more lumens, which equals 115, 000 lumens so 35,000 lumens less than a regular 1000k lamp, so it's not too far off. What do you think? And thanks for answering so quickly! I know you think I'm a jerk from that thread but I want to come here for some good chat with fellow growers, so hopefully you can forgive me.
