Sadly you cant compress coal into diamonds. Diamonds are pure carbon, but diamonds grow. Like a crystall.

Indeed they do, but it has to be constant, if one or the other fluctuate they malform and grow out of shape. They're still usable, and are still good diamonds. If everything stays constant it'll form a perfect octahedron.

My father used to work for Dabears [the diamond company] untill he got made redundent, and then he had his own jewelery shop.
