Help I need cheap workout food

I just moved to NZ from Cali. My food and weed budgets are currently very tight and its my first experience away from mom's meals. I love to lift before I chill for a toke the only problem is I cant afford alot of the good stuff my body needs to grow, I just feel tired after working out now instead of revitalized.

Whats are some great cheap foods that are high in calories, protein, healthiness, whatever?

CanaDank is absolutely right, PEANUT BUTTER man! The less stuff in it, the better. Peanut butter and wheat toast are cheap and great for you before a workout. After a workout, you need some chocolate milk! It helps your body recover faster.

The cheapest option for protein is definitely chicken breast. It's on sale all the time, lean, and you can make everything with it. Wheat pasta and a chunky tomato sauce are also both cheap and wonderful for your body after a workout.

And always, no juices and sodas! Skim milk and water are all you really need for liquid.

Black beans cooked with onions sauteed in bacon fat and seasoned with Goya Sazon. Brown rice.
Spinach cooked with garlic, olive oil, and chile flakes.
Canned mackerel is ass-nasty but at 75 cents for a 15 oz jar at the dollar store, if you can figure out a way to cook it (hint... Will it blend? Remove from can first... hahahahaha), it's the cheapest source of animal protein I can think of. Spicy mustard cuts the taste of oily fish well.
Soy protein in all its forms, from mock-dairy products to tofu to textured soy protein (stellar in chili), is cheap and good for ya.
Also, check out the crash-n-dent grocery stores that sell what I refer to as 'used food'- vegetables too ugly for the supermarket, packaged food with damaged packages, and meat that is less than 48 hours from its sell-by date.
This po' B gets down with the used food store fo sho.

A final word of advice, look to the cuisines of developing countries for ways to eat cheap. Don't look at individual DISHES, look at the whole diet.

I'd start with India, where even the vegetarian cuisine is extensive and HIGHLY nutritious. Yoghurt- based drinks, sauces, and desserts are common and paired with beans and rice or bread give you what is considered a 'complete' protein, meaning that all the amino acids are present and your body will process it most efficiently. Also some of the spices in Indian food such as ginger, garlic, asafaeotida, turmeric, and a couple others are considered essential not only for their flavor but for their digestive or other healthy qualities.

Eating this everyday will cost you like 5 cents and its about 3000 calories. I loosely follow this and it works for me. I have to force feed the tuna though. I never seperate out egg whites, because it just seems like a waste to me, so what if I have a heart attack one day. I just eat 4 eggs instead of 8 egg whites. Pre-cook your meals Sunday so you dont have to think about it much during your busy week.

    Meal 1: Pro/Carb
8 Egg Whites, 1 Scoop Of Whey Protein, 1 cup oatmeal
    50g protein / 54g carbs / 5g fat
    -----------------------------------
    Meal 2: Pro/Fat
Lean Ground Beef, ¼ cup swiss cheese, green veggies
    55g protein / 2g carbs / 20g fat
    ------------------------------------
    Meal 3: Pro/Carb
Chicken Breast, 1 and a half cup Brown Rice
    55g protein / 64g carbs / 3g Fat
**Disclaimer: Meal 3 can be a pro/fat meal if you are ultra sensitive to carb intake.
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Meal 4: Pro/Fat
2 Cans of Tuna, 1 Tbsp Full Fat Mayonnaise, Veggies
    60g protein / 2g carbs / 13g Fat

    Meal 7: Pro/Fat
Lean Protein of your choice, 2 Tbsp Natural Peanut Butter
    50g protein / 5g carbs / 18g fat

damn thanks for the awesome advice everyone! I got a giant jar of peanut butter, lots of pinto beans, and tried stinky addicts mackeral, which is F'in disgusting btw but mayo helps.

I feel way better, only two weeks of instant food was starting to make me feel nauseous, weak, and irritable.
