Respect is subjective and not a fact. Therefor it is a matter of opinion and could be seen many different ways for many different people. Personally, I have a great deal of respect for every member of my family. They receive my respect only because of something(s) they have done. Respect is earned and it should start out on an average level plane. If someone does something worthy of it, my respect goes up for them. Also if someone is worthy of it, my respect for them goes down. Including family.

So let's say for example, that you respect your family and they respect you, and your family would be very disappointed in you if they found out that you smoked pot. So disappointed that they would take you out of their will, you would loose their respect, and they would never see you again. If I understand you correctly, you would either never smoke so much as a bowl or a roach to make sure this never happens, or you would just go ahead and never see your family again. If it's the first one, what if weed was by far the best medicine that you have tried that will help any medical condition that you hypothetically may have? You just wouldn't use it? If you would, you are being hypocritical. If it's the second, then you are pretty callous.
