baby plant flowered. now what to do? HELP!

ok so this little seedling i had outside, it wasnt doing very well, so i figured it would die and left it alone. well it started to kinda develop purple flowers.... except the plant is only like 8 inches tall and pencil thin with like 2 or 3- three fingered tiny leaves on it.

so now that its cold, i brought it inside and i added some organic soil mix and 3 little fertilizer spikes to the kinda not-so-great gray looking dirt it was in before.

it gets sunlight from the window all day and has a 10 inch fluorescent light and then another small high intensity incandescent on it all day with the sunlight. then it gets 8-12 hrs of darkness every night.

i am hoping i can revive it or at least get a jay or to out of it... haha but am wondering if i should try and get it to grow some more since it is so small, or should i let it try to flower? HELP!

It needs 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness to complete its flowering cycle.
Irregularities in this will cause it to revert to vegging, flower longer, herm, or a combination.

it has been getting dark here around 5-6 pm for the last month or so and the little plant was outside. so she has been getting 12+ hrs of darkness everyday, possibly why she started flowering or preflowering while still looking like a pencil?

should i try to get it to grow more or flower? i guess the former since i gave it fertilizer spikes yesterday?

What kind of fertilizer "spikes" are we talking about here? Be specific.

What are the N P K ratings of the fertilizers you gave it?

Chances are, judging by your description of the condition of the plant, you almost HAVE to allow it to develope more before you put it into flowering in order to accomplish even a J.

My question is how did it grow so horribly outside?

    Do you live in Alaska?

Since you gave it some soil mix, I'd remove the fert spikes and seek proper nutes. I've heard that fert spikes are generally avoided in container growing as they tend to severly burn. I don't know this from personal experience, but I do know you'll want to be able to control the nutes she gets. Even using a fert with the correct N-P-K will need adjustments once in a while.
A fan would be helpful, too. Will strengthen the stem.
    -or-
You could do as mentioned above, but, increase light and hope she's not too far into flower to re-veg for a while longer.

they were these little "flowering houseplant" fert spikes that came in a pack of 50 at the dollar store. contain like 10% total nitrogen but not all of it was usable or something like that... it said to put 3 little spikes in an 8 in diameter pot, which is what i have.

i don't know how it grew badly outside, except that now it is a bit chilly. like lows in the 40's at night.

i doubt it is too far in the flower stage, as the entire plant is so tiny and thin and straggly with only a few leaves.

I'd take the spikes out. Any type of fertilizer that comes concentrated like that are uncontrolled fertilizers and once your plant wraps its roots around it (and it will), it will most certainly become ill.

Speaking of roots, if you do add a fan (which is highly recommended) at any point in time, your plant will grow roots like crazy. So I'd suggest keeping an eye on the bottom of the pot for roots that are peeking out. This means the roots have run out of room and are looking for more nutrients.

Was the plant in the ground outdoors or did you have it in a pot?

Sometimes small straggly plants can EXPLODE into gorgeous females with big buds. You just have to give it the proper foundation to grab a hold of.

    My suggestion:

    1. Do a basic check on the pot and soil. You might want to do a soil run-off pH check with a little pH kit. Make sure you have no roots visible from the bottom drainage holes on the pot.

    2. Get as much light as possible on it. I suggest 16hrs on 8hrs off. (Incandescent bulbs of ANY KIND are NO GOOD for anything. Put them in the garbage.)

    3. Think about some better soil.

i tried to get the spikes out, but i couldn't find them in the soil! possibly because i watered it, they may have started to dissolve... anyway it was just 3 little ones and they are prolly all mixed up in the soil anyway.

yes it was in the same pot outside. prolly 8-10 in diameter and maybe 10 inches deep.

the soil is the miracle grow premium soil BUT it is the ORGANIC version.

i think it is a sativa plant, which is no good for stealthiness in a closet. maybe i should try to just let it flower so it doesn't get 3 ft tall?

    You could.

But you'll definitly want to repot and flush. Not neccissarily into a BIGGER pot but more or less just to get it out of the soil it's currently in. You will have an overfertilization situation if you don't...That's the way I see it but I don't know. Pictures help.

    Goodluck.
