    Skinny plant

I have a plant that was planted from a badseed and sprouted in mid september. I kept it in the windowsill for about 3 weeks or so then put it in a little closet with some CFL's. I put it on 12/12 about 6 weeks ago and it showed sex about 4 weeks ago. Since showing sex it's doubled in size; it's about 32" tall now, but it has minimal side branching and started growing a cola between 2-3 weeks ago. It has bud sites at every node with tons of long white hairs and about a 3" cola on top but all the sites are mostly white hairs and the cola is skinny. I was wondering when it acutally started flowering? When it showed sex or when it started a cola? Also what kind of yield might be expected from a plant of this size with tons of bud sites? I was planning on harvesting for xmas but have abandoned that idea.

That is one of the problems in flowering with CFLs...the light is only effective within about 6 inches from plant, max. Lower/interior branches will never get enough light to develop anything tight or worthwile.
As soon as you see the pistols (long white hairs) it's officially in flower. As soon as you see the trichomes starting to cover the leaves, and start turning milky-colored, it's almost ready for harvest.
Yield: don't know. With an HPS light in the flower room, I'd say you have a chance that the bud will firm-up, but with CFLs the plant will have less energy available for it to produce, so yield will suffer. (like asking a professional weightlifter to live on one twinkie a day, for 3 straight months before the main event.
My guess...1/2 to 3/4 oz max.

How many weeks of veg? May have started flowering too soon, which can stunt its growth and development. (is always trying to catch-up) My guess is she has at least a few weeks to go.
Keep feeding her, and do you have a fan? This helps the stem strengthen up, and fresh air is always a plus.

She will do a whole lot better, once you get rid of that Tinfoil, and get more lights.

What nutes are you using? How many CFL's Are on her?

You should just buy 4-42w-150we CFL's Soft Warm. Or buy 2 and put them in with whatever you have.

I'd say it's been flowering for about 2-3 weeks...but that's pretty hard to tell from the picture. As stated before, CFL's don't put out enough light intensity to penetrate into the canopy...which is why you're getting one fairly dense cola, and little side branching. Either, a) buy yourself several more fluorescents and cover the lower branches with a warm light, or b) invest in a small 250-400w HID setup for your next grow. CFL's can produce fairly substantial amounts of bud, but from what I've heard by people who use them exclusively, LST is almost necessary in order to produce a sizable yield.
