You can use glass or metal screens with your pieces if you want to. It depends on how finely you like to grind the herb. I typically use a screen in anything I smoke, if they're available.

So yesterday I went out with my buddy and got a new glass bowl and an awesome grinder. I'll post pics. I love the bowl, it changes color when you smoke out of it. When I first got it there were a few swirls of color but it was mostly clear but now it's all kinds of colors. Me and one other friend smoked 14 bowls out of it yesterday.
