    First grow (revised)

Hello all, thanks for tuning in. I have decided to grow some plants using hempy buckets, I think I'm going to grow 9 because it can fit into a perfect square, and it will have a much shorter veg than 4 would.

    Supplys:

-4x4 Hydrohut (The one and only!)
-600watt HPS (The one with hightest lumen output-not certain)
-600watt Metal Halide (Also not sure of the brand)
-600 watt electronic Lumatek ballast (Extra lumens)
    -SilverStar 6" Air cooled Reflector
-General Hydroponic basic veg and bloom fert
-Rockwool plugs for rooting clones+ rooting hormone
    -Perlite and possible vermiculite
-Pure Powerplant (I believe Dutch passion is the only company?)
-6'' Blower/Fan for Air cool Reflector (Recommendations?)
    -Ducting for Fan-Air cooled hood
    -Charcoal flter (I'm guessing 6'')
    -Oscillating fan for plants.
Maybe this for cooling- Vortex 4 Fan Carbon Filter Combo - Vortex Power Fans
I believe that is all, any help/ advice you can give will be greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine has an almost identical set-up. (I don't know what hempy buckets are, but he's using dwc.) He was not happy with the 600w lamps and replaced them with 1000's for his latest grows. His yields have increased significantly with the 1000w lights.

His biggest complaint about the hydro huts is that it is hard to access the plants in the back - he does nine plants too. You might want to consider another zipper on the back side so you have access from front and back, if space allows.

Thanks for the post, I was actually in the process of editing my post.

    lol...

**Edit: I am thinking of using a 1000watt lamp because the 4 inch fan is capable of it. The room the hydrohut will be in has a window, and is 3.1 by 3.8 meters. I could simply turn the heat off in the room for the winter? Do I have to wire in a plug to the blower? And can I put my 1000watt lamp with the blower in the same powerbar?

    Re-revised.

-4'' Blower/Fan for Air cool Reflector
    -Ducting for Fan
    -Charcoal flter
    -Oscillating fan
-CFL+Mini green house for rooting clones and a mother

    Which blower?
    - Can Fan 4" High Output Exhaust Fan - Can Fan High Output Exhaust Fans
    - Vortex 4 Fan Carbon Filter Combo - Vortex Power Fans

Do I have to attach a plug to the blower manually?

The room I will be growing in is 3.1 meters x 3.8 meters. It has a window as well. I also have a question about harvesting, how does everyone do it with the tremendous smell?

Any suggestion/ comments/ help is greatly appreciated!

Your supplies sound about right, except for, and I'll keep saying it, Rockwool? are you crazy? are you nuts? that stuff is the opposite of the bomb. Not for beginners. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I have personally abused both CanFan and Vortex. Both are top of the line, with vortex being slightly more toward the top. I have never had a problem with any of my inline fans, which are all a mixture of the above two brands. I've even run a chunk of plastic wrap through two of them.

I believe the CanFans come with the cord not attached yet. It's real easy though with a philips screwdriver. Just take the cover of the electrical box, and attach the prestripped wires in the proper color coded slot. Nothing to write home about.

The filter is supposed to take care of the smell as long as the fan is on, then when you chop em down, you just need to put them deep in a closet or somewhere people are less likely to smell them. Depending on the brand of weed, some powerful ones don't smell much at all. You can get some of that odor eater in a jar. I don't know if it works.

    Hope that helps.

Rockwool would just be for rooting seeds an clones, just the plugs, are you still against it?

SO the vortex has a cord already attached right?

I was thinking of getting the odor eating puck/jar thing, hmm.
What strain/company do you recommend? Either way I'm getting fem seeds because I don't have time and patients to weed the males out, I'd rather not deal with that. Fast flowerer and high yeilder and the other a connosseur smoke, two different types .
Oh yes, like I was saying the room the hydrohut will be in is 3.1mx 3.8m, how hot will the room get? And thank you SO much for answering, I've been waiting days! lol

I start all my seeds in dirt and weed out the males and use the dirt plants as mothers. I get near 100% success that way, it's real easy. Just keep them warm and moist (not wet). That's almost impossible to do with RW. You can use a Vermiculite/Perlite mixture, Rapid Rooters, a sponge, and I think stinky attic recommends bark plugs. Never tried them.

My last Vortex came with cord attached. If I could save $25 by getting a CanFan and attaching the cord, I would do that since it is so easy.

For seeds, check out these two places:
Buy Marijuana Seeds and cannabis seeds from Holland - high quality marijuana seeds (cannabis seeds)
Marijuana Seeds (cannabis, pot) shipped worldwide

Both are good, the second one is more expensive, but they have a bigger selection, and even more important, I've never had a problem with them. I do want to try the first one next time, if there is one. Their site impressed me a little. I wouldn't waste money on fem seeds since gender is determined soley by genetics. Notice how it's kinda the same word? Fem seeds are a bunch of hype. You can expect 60 or 70% female from non feminized seeds. People get that when they order fem seeds and go, "see, fem seeds really do work" when its the same for non fem seeds. Power plant for the high yielder, Daddy's Girl, Blue Berry, Northern lights, Northern bright, Haze, G-13 x Haze, all make real nice smokes, and of course you cannot go wrong with the ever popular White Widow, or White Widow crossed with something else good. If you by crosses, they will cost less and you will get the best of two worlds.

The room will get pretty hot if you have a sog going and have both of the 600W lights going at the same time. Not so bad if you are doing the whole grow with one light at a time. That would be perfect for the 4" inline fan, but I don't know if there are 4" cool tubes, so you would need to get two 6 to 4" reducers, or build something yourself for reducing. If you are running both lights at the same time, I should think that a 6" inline would do the trick nicely. High output. Always high output on either the 4 or 6". A little more money and worth every penny.
