    Hempy buckets/ First grow

What do you think of them?

If you've never heard of them, they are usually a 2 gallon bucket filled with perlite(3 parts) and vermiculite(1 part). A hole is drilled 2 inches above the bottom, into the side, with a hole a little less than in inch. The bottom two inches always have water, and you water once every 1-2 days. I'm not sure how many plants, I was thinking 4...

I am thinking about trying this method out for my first grow.

    I am purchasing:

    Rockwool plugs, vermiculite, perlite...

Something for smell... not sure if I should get the ozone thing or charcoal?

Ballast- Lumatek 1000 watt Electronic ballast 240 Volt

    These Bulbs- http://www.progressive-growth.com/pr...php?prod=7062A
    - http://www.progressive-growth.com/pr...prod=smcoolddx
(Not sure if I should get a conversion bulk, or one of each?)

    Hood- http://www.progressive-growth.com/pr...php?prod=38017

    Growroom- http://www.progressive-growth.com/pr...?prod=sunhutXL

    Nutes- http://www.progressive-growth.com/pr...php?prod=novab
    (And the vegging one)

A small oscillating fan- Oscillating & Cirruclation Fans - Progressive Growth Hydroponics
    (One of these)

Ok, I know very little on this subject, so I'm all for any opinions/ suggestions/ help is greatly appreciated

Is 1000watt too big? What do you think my yeild would be? (I know everyone hates this question, because of all the variables, you can just comment on the max or min or whatever if you want, thanks)

I think that 1000 W is too big, but only for the space you showed us. I also like the reflector better that you see when you click the "next" button on that page. If you did something like that, you could have 1000 watts. Never tried the buckets. Seems like the roots would stay too wet when they got down close to the water in the bottom. Maybe it would be good too skip veg, and the roots might not have a chance to get down too close to the constant moisture. And rockwool? Bleaaacghhh (sp?) I hate that stuff and it's definitely not for beginners. I wish you extra luck with that shit. You are going to need more than 1 small fan if you are going with HID lighting. Plan to spend as much on ventilation as you do on lighting, or go with fluorescents.

    Good luck. Keep us posted.

Good choice on the ballast. Is it 240 volt there?

Heard good things about Flora Nova. I do just fine with my little ol' Fox Farm stuff though.

    For the aircooled.
I take it you live in Europe? It's 240, yes.
So the SPACE is sufficient, but it would just be too hot? I'll get the aircooled then, I think.
As for hempy buckets, the bottom acts as a resevoir, and the bottom roots turn to water roots and the top to air roots, it works, no root rot. I think I'm geting aqua turf or w/e it's called so I can reuse it..

Good choice, the air cooled hood. You can get a much bigger light that way, and get it closer to the plants. That takes a good fan though, and someplace to put that heat.

I live in the U.S. I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss the fact that the light was 240. I didn't know for sure if that's what you needed.

USA and CANADA have the same electricity I'm pretty sure.
Thanks, I've decided to get the 600watt light instead with that hood, what fan will I need? Can I get a possible 1gram per watt yeild if I do everything right with this set up?

I've decided to get a 4x4 hydrohut, it will be in a 12.5x10.5 room with a window... how hot will that light get? Should I get a charcoal fliter or an ozone one? Because the smell when I harvest as well....

I have the hydro hut aswell.. damn good product. aslong as you have the aircooled light things should go alright.. lol intake from the bottom, preferably not from the same room as the exhaust is in, Unless the room is vented, & cool. You could always put the filter on the other end of the light. or put dryer sheets on the exhaust port lol..

those buckets..do you water from the top or that hole..? and does the bottom 2inch have soil in it aswell..? a big confused..:rasta:

Activate Carbon (Charcoal) is safer since you can create too much ozone for both plants and humans as well...

You'll want to overbuild this and be prepared to spend $$$ on proper ventilation - inline fax (6" Vortex 449 CFM 10 yr warranty is what I use) - it will be worth every penny, believe me.
