Water Curing
If you have just a small amount that you're wanting to sample, water curing is fine, in my opinion. But, it's going to have a "green" taste, and is certainly going to look like a pile of crap. IR is right, though: sufficiently dried/cured buds will definitely produce a better flavor & aroma, and is well worth the wait, if you can handle waiting that long!
Other than small samples, I won't touch my buds - other than to mix them around in the jars - for at least one month from the time I cut them down, and sometimes even longer than that. When I finally do get around to consuming it, I'm never disappointed.
