Hello, Im growing the following.

Northern Lights#5 x Skunk#1 x Haze.

It says on a website that Northern Lights#5 x Haze grows to about 150-180 cm im not sure if this is the same plant but im worried about height i only got a couple feet tall for space lets say 5 ft tall the lamp takes up about a ft or so. and i dont need a huge ass plant. Any suggestions can i chop some pieces off it to make it shorter?

LSting would be my suggestion, remember you can flower any time you want so if you flower when your plant is only 1 foot tall it would be fine. However with LST (google it) you can train your plants to stay short and bushy and increase your yields substantially in your limited grow area.

now im confused whats the differnce between flowering and all that how do i flower the plant how do i make it so it grows buds im pretty lost.

you want to do a lot more reading, check out what stinkyattic has to say. fyi flowering is where you switch from a 24/0 or 16/8 light cycle to a 12/12 light cycle. that is what triggers bud growth, or check youtube "i grow chronic"

light thats more than 14 hours a day will vegitate the plant, less than 14 flowers/buds it

a little confused on how you are growing an actual strain and don't know how to flower (bud) your plant. Read this site thoroughly and you will know how. You'll also learn a lot more I'm betting. A nice movie tutorial has been posted recently...let me see if I can find it, and it should help you out:
