Will this be enough for my plants?!
Made a little tub grow set up and was wondering if it will be enough light to sustain what I'd like to have (8, 8 inch pots of Lowryder2).
10 26w cfls. Approx. 17,000 lumens. It's a 50 gal tub. Dimensions: 40"x20x20. Since the picture I used foil tap and carefully applied it to the inside of the container. This will be my first grow, just wondering whether or not it will be sufficient or not.
Thanks for any replys!:stoned::stoned:

i'm gonna guess and say those holes are for your ventilation.... well it will work as far as ventilation is concerned, but i would have moved one to a side opposite the other and towards the bottom (floor), this would give more of a breeze effect if you will. As far as the hole thing, yeah, that should work fine, you might have to raise the whole thing up towards the end, but then i never grew the lowryders so i'm not 100% on how tall. As far as the number, again, that is something someone who is familiar with that strain can answer, i would guess that you would need a bigger medium, but like i said, i havent grown that strain so i dont know..... In theory, if you had clones that were rooted, one could flower in that..... so for being stoned when all was made and prolly thought of, not bad....

they are a nice setup, but if those are the GE bulbs that they look like, they are the wrong spectrum. Look up the bulbs to make sure that your using the correct bulbs at the right time (veg vs flower). I started with a cfl and then upgraded to a cabinet when I ran out of room, you'll learn lots from what you have there.

Good job. A lot depends on which strain you're growing. If its a sativa strain you might need some more room. An indica strain would probably do good. Just get it to about the hieghth you want and change from 18/6 cycle to 12/12 cycle.

are you using 10 bulbs for 8 plants? that sounds a little weak. none the less, nicely set up!

See, I thought 10 bulbs sounded weak for 8 plants too, but since they were lowrdyers it might suffice?!?!?
And the lights are 7 soft and 3 daylight. When I bought them I thought that it might the other way around, 7 daylight and 3 soft, but figured they are relatively inexpensive and could easily fix it if I were wrong. Am I? (Autoflowering plant, will use the same bulbs the entire way thru on an 18/6)
As for the ventilation, I plan on propping up the tub AND the pots using.....anything really...probably DVD cases. So the tub won't be sitting on the ground which will allow air flow in, while I will have 2 6 inch fans on top of the holes to exhaust the heat. My grow will be in a closet that has doors I can shut to give the lowryders complete darkness for an 18/6 light schedule.
I'm thinking of using a soil mix of around 70% regular potting soil and 30% perlite. I'm afraid of messing my plants up with this soil so this could change. Having trouble finding soil right now during the winter!!! GRRRRIs it just me or does my lighter walk off constantly?:stoned:

evn for lowryders you may have a slightly less than optimum yield. dont woory tho, theyll still grow just fine.
id say you made a good choice. daylights are good vegging and soft is warmer for flower. considering the plant spends most of its average life in flowering, its a safe bet.

Thanks for your response everyone. Thanks klondike for your 2 cents. I know you've been getting some heat on here lately but I'd rather you give your opinion then none at all. As a edumacated person, I am critical of all advice and look into everything. Opinions are opinions, facts are facts, and all the rest is bullshit, so you have to be critical!!! After all, we come to these forums for help, to give advice, and to enjoy being a part of the site. At least that's why people SHOULD come here.
This dirt weed I gotz is the only shit that is around my parts, thats the reason I'm going to grow. Tired of paying for weed, none the less BAD weed.Is it just me or does my lighter walk off constantly?:stoned:

lol. always a good cause.
me: im cheap, and i got 10seeds on the promise ill give back a peiece of the harvest. plus, i rarely smoke and want to become a daily jointer w/o paying stuid per-gram prices:jointsmile:
but id definitely attempt to add another couple lights. i have a 4-girl grow thats powered by 4 bulbs (now 6) and during veg they just went stupidly tall looking for light.
thanks for your defence by the way, a lot of my advice has been met with criticism as well as appreciation, and i still try my best.

Well if the lights end up not being enough, I could always go with more powerful bulbs.....or build a new set up lol
