My advice would be to find the local headshop (there are loads of them) and have a discreet word with the owner and customers , trust your instinct and don't pay up front.
There is no real redlight district like in The Dam , only the sex shops of Soho and to be honest I would stay well away from Soho.

I used to visit the Dam at least once a month and to be honest London just does not compare. I like to visit London and I lived in Kingston (Surrey) for a while so I could easily go for nights out in the city, Croydon was always a great place for live music.
I have a mate in Camden who runs a tat shop and I visit him now and again .

That's funny you say that, i go to Kingston practically every weekday because of college. This is my last year though, then to the Netherlands, i can't wait. There's a lot of bud flowing through SW London, watch out for the sprayed stuff though, it does exist if you buy from the wrong people.

    Yeah as I was saying...

Got to Camden because it's got a great alternative scene! (not to score weed that it not what I meant)

(Is there something wrong with just editting out the bit I now know I shouldn't have said instead of deleting the whole post?)

Very interesting indeed. I met another Dutch person who told me he moved to London to get away from the cannabis. I told him the complete opposite. Why would you leave the Netherlands to come to London? I just don't get it, to make more money? I'll never believe it is a more peaceful and friendlier place.

There was a little misunderstanding between myself and French customs involving cannabis and the European laws covering proceeds of crime...
I lost everything I had built up over 12 years and the French sent me back to England to do my time. I am now in a relationship with a woman who would rather stay in England but I am working on her to make her realise that Holland has a lot more to offer.
I keep telling her it was easier for me to get to Durham (thats where her family live) from where I lived in Holland than it is to get there from the south coast of England. I will win her round.

PS You're dead right about Holland being a friendlier and more peaceable place. Ik hou van Nederland !

Ja! Hup Holland! Alles is liefde hier. As a Scottish Ex-pat I get asked frequently, but what are you doing in Holland! Made the mistake of saying, Oh yeah because I like to smoke hashish a few time, they don't like that for some reason. The people here are very friendly, but I can understand why they prefer Britain. Holland is way to crowded, it's too flat and the food sucks. Still rather live here than London!
