    Should they just be re-potted?

Re-pot them if they haven't been sitting in it long enough to root in there significantly.
The excess soil with all that extra stuff in it is great as a top-dressing on your garden plants.
For a noob, yeah, stick to watering your fertilizer in in liquid form until you are comfortable growing and also diagnosing def/tox symptoms.

I don't like MG because you can't use your own ferts and the bud tastes....bad. If you're stuck with places like Lowe's, HD, etc, go with Sta-Green all purpose potting soil. It can be found at any Lowe's. It's cheap as hell and works wonderfully. I got this tip from a local grower of over 20 years.

Thanks alot folks, I told my buddy everything and he was in motion the last I knew. He has been using just plain tap water to flush with, and water with. He is also going to use liquid karma and neem oil. He said that he read that you used that also stinky, wants to know what kind of pattern to water and feed with. Should he water everytime with the botinacare fert, that's what the lable says. He is going to start with a 1/4 strength for the first gallon given his previous episode with the soil. How often should he use the liquid karma, neem oil, and what about molasses? I said something to him about it and he acted like I was crazy. I know that I have seen stuff about it before. Sorry for getting off topic. Thanks for your patience.

I'm using Black Gold all purpose potting soil, haven't added a thing. Hopefully I don't regret that down the road.

Neem oil isn't a fertilizer; you mix it for a foliar spray and mist lightly every so often to protect your plants from pests, mold, and water loss.
Liquid Karma, follow the directions on the bottle.
Molasses, use at about a tablespoon per gallon during flower to increase bud weight and resination and improve flavor.
