this is the first time that a binding referendum on decriminalization has been on the ballot (meaning that if its voted in, it will become law). Every year for the last several, there have been "public policy" questions on the ballot in several voting districts. Each time the question was asked (about decrim and about medicinal) it passed by a large margin.

SO, I would say that this has a very good chance of becoming a reality. It's been a long time coming, but if the presidential election isnt enough to get you to vote, then vote for decrim of marijuana!

LEGAL-LEAF BACKERS CLAIM BALLOT SUPPORT (Source:Boston Herald) Massachusetts ------- BOSTON - Advocates for decriminalizing marijuana in Massachusetts say they've collected more than enough signatures to get the initiative on next year's ballot. Supporters say they filed about 105,000 signatures - far more than the 67,000 required. The ballot question would impose civil, not criminal, penalties on anyone caught with 1 ounce or less of marijuana. Rating: 5
