    Life-Changing Decision

Hey guys, Iā??m in a potentially life-changing situation right now. Not in a life or death or a physically harmful sort of way. Basically for the past year I have been going to a community college and taking classes full-time, Iā??m currently extremely unhappy about that ā??cause not only do I take classes full time but I work at a retail store that I fucking hate(Iā??m not doing too well at my classes either). At the same time I donā??t want to let down my family ā??cause I want to make them proud and make something of myself. I should also mention that my parents could drug test me at any moment even though they havenā??t because I got my shit together somewhat(SWIM only does psychedelics every now and then even though SWIM loved weed and wish to pursue it once again). Basically in my eyes I have two main choices. I know the choice probably sounds obvious to onlookers but I could always use a fresh pair of eyes as my neurons might be misfiring.

    1) Stay the course and feel empty throughout my school career.(I would transfer to a four-year eventually)

    2) Quit school for a while, work full time, move out, maybe take 1 or 2 classes, still go to school but at a slower pace, do whatever the fuck I want, and most importantly enjoy life!

    3) Other (Describe please)

This choice has clouded my mind for some time now, I must make this decision now for the next semester starts in about a month or so. I would appreciate feedback. I know this isn't the Dr. Phil message boards but what the hell...:hippy:

The way you framed the question should tell you that #2 is what you think is right for you. You gotta do whats right for yourself.

For me, its getting school over with so I can do start my career as a badasss (and learn something cool along the way).

    Life-Changing Decision

I wont get off on a rant about our educational system and college.A college degree is for the most part the new h.s. diploma. I would ask your self why are you in school and what do you want to accomplish? If your going to school because its expected or you feel you have to in order to get a "decent" job, well then you are not going to be satisfied or happy being in school.I can only speak for myself but if I was in school just to get a "decent" job Im essentially still a wage slave to the system and I wasnt very happy working 50-60 hours a week,Im sure as hell not going to be very happy working 30-40 hours per week doing homework and 15-20 hours sitting in a classroom taking courses Im not really interested in nor care about just to maintain a gpa that would allow me to take the next "expected" step in my education (does that make sense?).

I know your a young person and I probably sound like one of those cranky old bastards but...life is really to short and precious not to do something that makes you happy or that you enjoy.Look at all the pissed off zombies shuffling off to work everyday at jobs they hate because they are trapped by "stuff" and expectations.I would say find something that you are passionate about and figure out a way to make a living doing that.I wish you well and hope things work out for you the way you want them to,good luck my friend, take care,be well, and most of all be safe.

Thanks for the reply man, much appreciated, I'm still searching for my purpose and until then won't rush myself into something I will possibly regret.:hippy:

    Life-Changing Decision

I would stay in school, I would sit down and have a chat with your parents and REALLY look at your options about quiting the other problem you have, FULL time job.. Do what you can, borrow money, get a grant for this or that. Stay in school and do what is best for you. Remember the brain is just a muscle and you always have to be working it.
school and weed isn't hard. Just have to enjoy and not to indulge.

    good luck with the decision.

I say 2, go do what you need to do to discover yourself and probably will lead to what you want to do in life. Don't stay in school if you don't think its what you really want to do because you'll probably end up hating what you do in the end anyway.

Thats what I'm doing. I gave up school twice to work full-time, chill relax , find myself. Afterall that, I finally decided what I really want to do.

Well... as people already said, do what you want to do... life is too short for waste it doing what you dont like... enjoy your life while you are alive... cause death is stalking, and nothing, NOTHING ensures us that we will live even one more day... so, enjoy life while you can.
