    Lungs feel "sore"

Lately Iā??ve been having some pain in my chest in and around where my lungs are. Itā??s not a sharp pain, more of just a general soreness. Furthermore, the pain does not occur when I cough, and breathing is completely unaffected. Pretty much the only time it hurts is when I do something like bend over to tie my shoes, or when Iā??m rolling around in bed.

Itā??s beginning to effect my quality of sleep, and though Iā??m glad that whatever it is isnā??t causing me shortness of breath or anything like that, Iā??m still slightly worried.

Iā??ve been smoking regularly for about 3 years, and off and on for about a year before that. I donā??t smoke ciggs or anything else.

The only other things that Iā??m wondering might be the cause-

I had a seizure about a month ago and was taken to the emergency room. Itā??s actually an issue Iā??ve had since I was a little kid but Iā??d just passed out and not known what happened in the past where as this time I was with someone when the seizure happened. Still, almost my entire body was sore for days after that, maybe this pain is simply residual soreness from that?

Upon researching about the seizures, I found that marijuana is a great anti-seizure medication, and that seemed to make sense since the only time the seizures are ever an issue is first thing in the morning before Iā??d had a chance to smoke a bowl. So Iā??ve been smoking a bit more than normal, and maybe that is the cause of the pain.

Finally, they prescribed me these pills called Dilantin for my seizures and Iā??ve been taking 3 a day for about a month as prescribed. Perhaps the drug has some sort of side effect that is causing the pain.

Anyway, if anyone has had anything similar happen or has any advice, let me know.

Cannabis isn't a great anti-seizure med for everyone, EciRon, but I'm glad you get beneficial effect. In some, it can cause just the opposite response. Depends on the type of seizure disorder and which area of the brain your seizure electrical signals originate from, from what I've read.

Have you told your doctor about the lung/chest pain? Lung/chest pain isn't one of the commonly reported side-effects from Dilantin/phenytoin, but that doesn't mean it can't be a reaction people have. Most folks have side-effects related to their central nervous system, but there are plenty of other reactions possible in other areas.

Definitely share the info about the symptoms you're experiencing with your doctor or his/her nurse or nurse practitioner. Try and evaluate, too, whether you might also be having some anxiety that would contribute to that feeling of chest tightness/pain or whether the onset of cool/dry weather could be aggravating it, too. I have asthma and a heart rhythm problem, both of which can cause chest pain. Colder weather really aggravates my asthma and gives me a feeling of chest pain, especially with exertion like exercise. Just some things to ponder. Good luck!

    Lungs feel "sore"

    Sounds strange.

The only time my lungs have ever hurt is the day after huge sessions. This one time 3 friends of mine came over and we smoked, one after another from 2pm until 9pm.. bowl after bowl, bong rip after bong rip. I was completely gone until I woke up... my lungs sorta had a pain when I'd turn or breathe in too sharply but it went away after a few days- completely gone after a week.

Thanks for the advice. I don't have health insurance at the moment, just a basic plan that coveres mainly emergencies. I'll try to cut back on the herb and see if my lungs get better on their own.

I think part of my problem is a bad habit I have of smoking right before I go to sleep, which seems to be pretty hard on my lungs as opposed to if I waited like an hour or two first.
