    Question about seeds conservation

Well... im saving all the seeds i get from my weed, cause im planning to move to a place where it will be possible to grow them. But i have a few questions.
How long the seeds can be stored before they rot?
Also... there is a good way for conservating them?
Im currently covering all my seeds with white glue (which is an emulsion of polivinyl acetate in water btw), for preventing mold, and any damage from outside... will it do any harm to the seeds? When i were to plant them, i will wash out the glue with water.
BTW... the seeds are from the best weed i can get, and i hope to grow them one day... so any help from you will be greatly useful!

    Question about seeds conservation

just put your seeds in a small container with rice, the rice will absorb any moisture ...put it in the refrigerator (not the freezer) ... the idea of coating a seed to protect it is a bit bizarre, I would NOT do that ... IF you had researched the Forum, you would see frequent posts regarding 'seed storage' ... try doing a Search of it :smokin:

    Question about seeds conservation

Thank you for the info about storing the seeds with rice... but... all my seeds already are glue-coated... so, does anybody knows if this coating will cause some harm to the seeds?

    Question about seeds conservation

I've been around pot a long time (Im 56 years old), and I have NEVER heard of anything like that ... if it's water-soluble, you may be OK when you pre-soak the seeds before germination, I guess :wtf: ... good luck ...

    Question about seeds conservation

I've also never heard of gluing seeds. I don't know why you are going through all that trouble for bagseed. I hope the glue doesn't kill the seeds. In any case, you are probably better off buying fresh seeds with good genetics and the proper strain for your environment (i.e. indoor vs. outdoor) instead of frustrating yourself with old unidentified seeds. But, at any rate, the seeds will store for years. You can even put them in the fridge or freezer. Seeds are designed to survive the winter.

    Question about seeds conservation

ive been savin the best beans i ever find, over the past 20 yrs.
they are all kept in a oldschool 35mm film canister. nothin else.
in a place they wont be disturbed like a drawer or jewelry box.
for very special beans, i put em in a lil zip, then in the canister.

    how long?
i germed 16 year old thai 6 months ago.

    your mileage may vary

    good luck.

    Question about seeds conservation

I am a little over cautious and have probably over done it a little. I like to keep my seeds in a 1/3 of a dram air tight glass container. I then place this in a small bag and place both of them in a small plastic container packed with loose desiccant. That is next placed in a heavy plastic lock-top style container with large desiccant bags and humidity indicator cards, then finally placed for long term storage in the bottom of a deep freeze. Probably overboard but I at least know they are good and safe for the long haul.

better hope those seeds were 100% DRY before you froze them, or they will burst ... I recommend refrigeration, but not freezing ... you should be OK with all that dessicant, but still risky :smokin:

Never thought of that actually. I haven't had a problem in the many years of using this storage technique.
