Has anyone ever seen a "Green Flash"?

I have made myself available 100's of times to witness this natural phenomena...sometimes I just don't believe that I will ever see one...have you?

Nope I haven't, and yes I want to.

Apparently its got to be the perfect humidity and season and all that shit so yeah I guess the chances are pretty slim..

Green flash?... Are you talking about the rare phenomena that happens just as the sun sets below the horizon? I've heard about that but never seen it happen even though I've watched the sunset all the time. I hear it's more likely to be noticed if you're watching it set on the ocean.

Thats exactly right...I am pretty sure it only happens over the ocean...that is where I have watched it on numerous occasions..I get real excited everytime...right when there is just a little tip left and then bammmm...nada..nothing..lol..maybe some day I guess

Oh! I saw one once when I lived by the ocean- I saw it during sunset; sometime in 2000 as the sun was setting. It was absolutely awesome I didn't know what it was at first, so I ran home afterwards, and told my parents about it. My uncle told me about green flashes- when he used to be a deep sea fisherman, the crew on his boats saw a few. They're best in high humidity and clear skies.

EDIT: I should mention it's not really a 'flash' per say, rather, a blip of green color. I thought it was just the weed making me see it, but nope. :stoned:

odd this thread popped up... i had JUST watched the third pirates of teh carribean yesterday for the first time lol.... for those who haven't seen it, the movie makes refrence to this same thing....

I heard my father talking about it once or twice... dont know if he actually saw one... but im sure i didnt. Yet.

The only green flashes I ever saw were induced by mind altering substances. I have never even heard of this green flash until now but, I grew up with the Atlantic in my sunrise and the New York City skyline in my sun set being I grew up on Long Island.
Now I live on the Pacific side of the continent but am never out of my house at sunset, this is Los Angeles and I feel safer inside at night.
