My plant is avoiding the light?
Hello, and thank you for this great forum. I have a 2 1/2 week-old seedling, everyday my plant looks healthy and it's leavs are either flat or forming a slight 'Y'. But after about twelve or thirteen hours of light the top leaves start to point towards the soil! They are not soft and droopy, in fact once they get this way it takes quite the effort for it to return to normal, and at this point they seem to be stuck this way unless I moisten the leaves with some water. I have it under a 27/100 watt 5500K CFL, and a 17 watt mini aquarium fluoro. I give it roughly 16 hours of light per day. It's in a soil similar to Miracle gro, in a 3 gallon pot. I turn the lights on at midnight and i think my house might be just a tad bit warmer during the day (the plant's night time) could that be the problem? I don't have a PH test kit but will get one if PH imbalance is causing my problem. I haven't fed it any nutes and I would take a pic but I don't have the propper USB cable to transfer the pics, anyone ever have this problem before? BTW it's not the leaf tips that curl it's the whole leaf. Thank you for any advice

My plant is avoiding the light?
Sorry, I forgot a few details... The light is one inch away from the top, the room temp is always between 68-75 F. I water every 4 or 5 days, and the humidity I'm not sure of but I keep it's water container right next to it all the time because in the beginning it looked way too dry. Oh yes, and the plant is an indica. thanks

jusp up the light about 2 inches, sounds like it may be trying to get away from the heat

My plant is avoiding the light?
Looking good right now, after just waking it up, I think it was just sick. Either that or it really loves to sleep. lol

Do raise your light...an inch IS pushing it imo. Plants WILL also rest their leaves at night so if it just seems to happen about the same time every evening and they bounce right back and look good in the morning then they are probably just taking a litte rest.
THAT said....be nice to know for sure thats what it is and not a ph or other issue......be wise to get yourself some good growing supplies.

cfl wont make much heat, which is why it doesnt follow the 6inch rule of most mh or hps.
however, it is still a lot warmer to touch then the plants appreciate, so its best to keep it around 2-4inches off
