So what was on Your Thanksgiving plate?

My plate contained samples of the following:

    Smoked turkey and giblet gravy*
    Ham
    Brisket*
    Cornbread dressing*
    Garlic-cheese grits*
    Green beans w/ almonds
    Carrots
    Cole slaw*
    Cranberry sauce
    Baked squash casserole*
    A yeast roll

There were other things available, like mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole, but I'm not a potato fan.

There were also far too many desserts:
    Apple pie*
Pumpkin cheesecake (ugh--not my thing at ALL)
    Sweet potato pie
    Brownies
    Oatmeal-raisin cookies*

The asterisk notations signify the items I cooked for the meal (or took along). I did the cookies day before yesterday just because they're my husband and dad's favorites, so I took them with us and, yep, they got eaten, too. The best thing there was the smoked turkey!

    Ahhhh mate. Sounds amazing!

I wish we celebrated thanksgiving in UK. Would be like the treat of having two xmas dinners a year.

    I'd have:

    Nice tender turkey breast
    Corn on the cob
    Roasted potatos
    Roasted veggies
    Stuffing (lots of)
    Pig in blanket (several)
    Yorkshire puds
    Cranberry sauce
    Bottle of Old Speckled Hen
    Hefty Joint.

    Man, my mouth is watering!

and a Bee who lived in a wood and
were the best of friends. All Summer
long the Bee collected nectar from
morning to night while the Bear lay

    When Winter came the Bear
realised he had nothing to eat and
thought to himself \'I hope that busy

It is a lot like two Christmas dinners, it's true, Matt. I often wish there weren't so much overlap in the menus. When I'm in charge of them, I try to make them distinctly different.

Do you Brits eat cranberry sauce with your holiday meals a lot now? That used to be a distinctly American thing, at least according to my British friends. I'm glad to know there are English folks who like them!
