The year 2012, Will it be the End?

But in all seriousness, I don't believe it. Because, people have been trying to predict the end of days since the dawn of man.

There was this minister who got his whole church (the whole town) to believe that the end of the world was on this day (I forget the exact day so lets say July 7th). The whole town quit their jobs, sold their homes and everything and went to wait on a hill for the end.

It never came. The towns people were ruined. But alas, they still believed in religion.

So the church leader set another date and the people followed him to the hill again.

This story is random and only kinda has to do with the top post but I heard it on the history channel one day while stoned. And it was on during a show about the 2012 end of the world shit.
There was an episode of the simpsons just like that.

I don't get where the reasoning comes from that on predictable intervals the earths magnetic field reverses in some drastic event, after reading about earths magnetic field this seems highly unlikely that it would be a predictable drastic event, and even more so unlikely to be accurate down to a day, or even a year when you're talking 1000's of years ago this was "predicted".

I understand the predictability of solar events, moon cycle etc., but when you are talking geological events/changes, reversal of earths magnetic field volcano etc., the changes either occur over time or are drastic and unpredictable or only predictable in wide approximations, it just doesn't seem to fit with this supposed end of the world. Plus it is not unusual for a society to claim an end of times and many have done it before, the mayans were impressively intelligent however the theory does not fit to me, and considering they it is theorized based on there writings that they did not have telescopes based on references to constellations etc. and there calander year did not account for a leap year, it was 365 days, I do not see any reason to take this much more seriously then previous end of times predictions.

Sorry if this rambles or is incoherant but thanksgiving was harvest and I am enjoying early satisfaction.:stoned:

Of course this is all IMO

It's not only the Mayans that predicted the end/beginning of 2012. There is actually similar predictions from other prophets that are from totally different time eras. I think thats why people actually take this so serious.

December 21, 2012 is said to be the beginning of the apocalypse(meaning in Greek: An unveiling, revelation) by Nostradamus, the date of the Earth's polar shift, and the end of the Mayan calender, World War III, etc.

Something will happen and current events seem to be closing in around this subject. It's very real.

Now is the time to rid your fear of death, and welcome your afterlives. Life will continue.

I really do think this is a very sketchy topic. I often find that these theories seem unreasonable or silly but the people that believe can sell the theories so well it almost makes you feel like an idiot for not believing it too.

But I'm going to have to say I don't believe it.
