I found some standard bases, just the socket part with a tiny "L" bracket on them at Home Depot for 2 or 3 bucks. You can get a couple of those and mount them to a piece of pipe or even a block of wood as they really don't get hot. And yes as theganjaking pionts out use at least 14/2 wire. WHITE WIRE GOES TO SILVER SCREW. You can pick up a plug there too. Make sure all your connections are nice and neat. Screw terminations always go clockwise to ensure they are nice and tight and never overlap themselves. But don't crush the wire because it might break. You can get those basic keyless fixtures GK is talking about at any hardware store. If you're at all unsure about wiring it stick with those drop light things with the clamp and reflector. GK420, you can solve the falling down problem with an electrical staple over the clampy thing. I have actually been using a couple of those loaded with colored spots and clamped to my PA speaker stands for acoustice gigs and they work great and cost a fraction of what a light show costs plus I don't have to pay a light guy.
