    rediculous FDA warning

Some guy starts taking chantix, gets super drunk, kicks a door, gets shot in the head, and the FDA issues a warning about the drug but does not mention that the guy had three times the legal limit of alcohol.

Is the Smoking Cessation Drug Chantix an Antidepressant or a Source of Suicidal Thoughts? | Wired Science from Wired.com

    What the heck?
    Has anyone tried this stuff?

well the door was definitely in part to the alcohol...however, the family stated he had been having nightmares and hallucinations...fucking synthetic chemical b/s...Fix one problem by creating another, and then take more drugs, then take more to help those side effects...

I hate pharmaceuticals..I rarely use any of them unless it's the day after a long night of getting drunk, in which marijuana can not even ease the pain on my entire body....I've yet to find them any more useful than marijuana can be, and I cannot stand the whole idea of taking something to make me feel better and it actually make me worse off...fuck that shit. Marijuana is god's medicine, and god is kickass. I enjoy every side effect from marijuana...

I agree compltely. I dont take any medication, or even asprins. I dislike going to the doctor [When i broke my back i didnt go for about a week and a half]

I dont like the idea of putting all that shit into my body, especially not with all the side effects. Are the side effects worth it? Nah. No damn way.

BUT, as if by magic, ganja sorts all my problems out. And im happy to smoke it, because i know it IS safe. Much safer than anything man has made.

It's like that saying - Man made Booze, God made Grass - who do you trust? Well, certainly not greedy idiots pumping god knows what into us all.

You all are probably going to say something about this, but i am currently on Chantix, and it definitely helps to quit. I had tried many ways before (cold turkey, gum, patches, hypnosis, etc) but nothing worked. my Dr. suggested it, i tried it, and i have recomended it to several people.

Now i do have to say, i am not one for taking perscription meds, I was perscribed Aderrall and Ritalin for a lot of my childhood, and as a teenager, did the research and figured out that the benifits did not outweigh the side affects.

I think that the entire story is blown out of proportion. Not to sound like an asshole, but I see this family looking for a payday, and not looking at 3/4's of the story. The guy was 3 TIMES OVER THE LEAGAL LIMIT, but that must not have any affect on his behavior.

Whatever. I hope the check makes them feel better for not looking at his drinking problem, and focusing on something that helps him to make better life choices.

    My 2 cents...

    Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Three million people are on chantix and yet few of them are running around like the joker kicking doors down.

The friends and family must be looking for a payday or trying to find something other than themselves to blame. In addition to wanting some cash, those people must not want to feel guilty for not stopping his drinking problem too.

This discussion seems cool to me but discussion of drugs other than mj is against the rules so don't be surprised if this thread get nuked.

But it is a perscription medication, and we are discussing the news story around it. I was just sharing my personal experiences with it in its prescribed doseages, all within the legal guidelines of any forum and any form of discussion.

Since it is in the news, politics, and legal section, this thread should not get nuked for not being about marijuana. It would be a different story if it was anywhere else on this board. Plus, this is more of a story about shady FDA warnings, drunk behavior, and crazy shootings than recreational drug use. It seems like a fine topic to me.

I agree with you Toke'n (good pun with the name too!). Also, in the article they claim while he was taking it, he complained about hallucinating badly! Well no offense to the deceased, but seriously, if you take a pill that's supposed to help you quit smoking and you start tripping balls and freaking out, maybe you should be responsible and stop taking the pill!

I have not "tripped balls" on this perscription at all. If anyone is looking for some assitance in the way of quitting a horrible habbit, chantix is the way to go.
